His passing will leave quite an impact on No. Virginia and beyond.
Sad indeed. RIP…
Steeplechasing lost two great owners in the past few days, not only AWA, but also Cary Jackson.
So sad. RIP.
This is the latest information I received.
…there will be a memorial service at Trinity Episcopal Church in Upperville at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 11th. After the service, everyone is invited to come to Merry Oak Farm for a reception. As he touched so many lives from so many different areas of life, I am certain these will be very popularly attended events.
His instructions and Peggy’s wishes, indicate contributions in his memory be made to Great Meadow Foundation and The Nature Conservancy
While you may have seen the obituaries in various media sources, here is a link to The Fauquier-Times Democrat obituary that appeared today to share with others.

Mr. Arundel’s estate is having a complete dispursal sale of his runners in an auction on April 4, 2011 at Locust Hill Farm in Glyndon, MD.
A few of those guys are top notch, well known names: including Mr. Hot Stuff (full brother to Colonal John), Union Army and Seeyouattheevent. Jack Fisher his trainer will be working those three - per the full advert in the ST Times - that morning before the auction for review.
Mr Hot Stuff never quite pulled off what was expected of him on the flat track. He was however a multiple graded stakes placer and retired in 2010 to become a chaser.
Hey let’s not forget the other two…
Monte Bianco who is a 10 yr old Timber stakes winner is being sold as a foxhunter prospect
Fifty Five, a 7 yr old son of Dynaformer who was 3rd over hurdles and won twice on the flat is also a foxhunter prospect.
I know they’re not actively being promoted as racers, but both deserve a look.

Actually the rest of his horses were not identified in the full page advert and there is no action url I agree the other two are very good chasers worthy of note. Just my 10,000 ft view but all the horses collectively appear to be auctioned under very restricted circumstances to those in the know.
Has it been published as to who purchased the Arundel runners at Monday (Apr 3) auction? I’d hate if if Seeyouattheevent was purchased as taken out of being a 'chaser.

The two I mentioned were mentioned in the Full Page Ad. I held it in my hand as I typed the details about them.
I woudn’t have known anything otherwise!!

Mr. Hot Stuff bought by Gil Johnson and staying with Fisher. Union Army and Seeyouattheevent bought by Irv Naylor. Story on ST Times website.
As soon as I saw Seeuattheevent on the list, I knew that Irv would buy him. He’s built quite the stable of timber horses (an hurdlers, as well). Wondering what is wrong since he will miss the Spring season. Saw him at Foxhall a few weeks ago.
