ASHBA and WCHS kerfluffle

Saw this on TikTok. This user does a blurb on different breeds. Here’s what they did for Saddlebreds. It should be used by the ASHBA

I doubt it’s on YouTube or anywhere else. Let me know if you want me to do the transcript

Oh dear heavens. That just described my saddlebred to a freaking “T”.

Like a teenager taking the trash out…… :microphone: drop.

I posted it in the group (now that I’m totally outing myself LOL).

It also describes mine, particularly the CEO of the barn. HE RUNS IT, I just work in it.

Thanks for posting it there (don’t worry, I’ve forgotten your name already :grinning:)

I see it’s had some decent views. I’m kinda annoyed at the first comment, ‘they stole my video’

I swear if that had been my horse, I would have excitedly posted ‘OMG that’s my horse!!’ Once she said that I recalled seeing her video in my scrolls, can’t remember if the horse is for sale or she just posted a vid; Anyway, he’s a nice looking horse.

I still think the ASHBA should pay the guy and use that video. By the way, since I liked it on tiktok, I’ve seen more, Dartmoor ponies, Morgans. I would have posted the Morgan one, but not sure many here would enjoy it since these videos do use spicy language. :grimacing:

Holy shmoley.

So, at the last minute, during the meeting today a person attempted to amend the amended bylaws. This requires 30 days notice according to the bylaws, but was attempted in the meeting.

The voting will be completed tonight.

I’ve never been a part of how this particular sausage gets made but it’s messy.

I’m hoping that they all wind up at the same restaurant and have a bar fight. Film at 11.

The association, also known as The Gang That Couldn’t Shoot Straight, apparently couldn’t even get all of the links sent out properly so that member could view the spectacle. Scott and his posse VS the status quo. I really am not sure that I care who wins.

TBF both options are the same cronies that only care about the big Saddle Seat money folks. Its always the same names at WCHS over and over again.

The only difference is one set is for SafeSport and protections from USEF and the other is all bought in for ESC and no SafeSport.

Neither are transparent and know how to push the breed forward. The current board would already be doing it, and the elected board could give two whittles.

This is probably my last year as a member, and I will probably find a breed that appreciates the 50K-60K I spend every year even if it’s not 100K.

I’ve been talking to the existing board members a LOT more than I ever expected to over the last few days as I somehow got involved and opened my big mouth (a lot).

I feel optimistic. Is the current board perfect? No. But - they have been inundated with crazy from the “Yes” side, technology issues, and legal issues from the whole USEF/ESC thing, and they are a VERY small group of volunteers.

I am really encouraged that sporthorse people and rescues started posting in the group, regardless of the fear that they “weren’t a big enough name”.

Do I think it’ll be perfect? Again, no. But I’m really hopeful for positive change.

The vote went to the Nos! We don’t have a nominating committee yet - that will be tallied and done on the 24th because it got complex apparently.

It was a very planned social media attack, I’ve never experienced anything like it.

But their proposal was voted down by the members 858 no to 534 yes

We have a lot of work to do, so now maybe we can finally start concentrating on the horses!

That would be nice.

It would also be great to identify a way to make the old guard see sport horses and other divisions as the gateway drug vs the opposition.

You would think it would be simple for any horseman or businessman to recognize the opportunities. Unfortunately, it’s a strange world.
We need a lot of help from out of the box thinkers. Even more help from those outside the saddle seat discipline.
I don’t know if you or anyone saw one of the comments in the Respectful (but not very respectful) FB group. It was basically… Well what kind of price tag would a dressage horse bring anyway?
If you only knew sir, you would be jumping on the bandwagon real fast.
I’m going to start a new topic, I really want input from you guys.
We have some amazing people that I call my “boots on the ground” that are actively participating in the sport horse world that are going to help us educate ways to better understand and promote to the disciplines.

Yes, I answered it but was ignored.

There are people who are engaging positively (yay!) but there are many who ignore all the chances for positive discussion and just feel like they are sitting back and crossing their arms saying “I don’t like it”.

I keep saying - we want to HELP you!!! My goal is to improve your profits and make sure you have a market. It seems to be interpreted as criticism. That’s a shame.
