After an amazing day out fox hunting with Casanova yesterday, this afternoon I was priveliged to go out on foot with the Ashland Bassets. Thanks watery glen, JSwan, and everyone else! Saw about 10 rabbits, hunted for two hours, and everyone said it was the best hunting day in a long time! Wonderful breakfast afterwards! So many new adventures…I love Virginia.
Ah bassets! Saturday I went hunting in a woolly hat, rubber boots and a scarf. Had a superb 2 hours watching hounds work over some lovely country and chatting to other followers. No need to worry about the horse, other horses, the people on other horses or have that sinking feeling at the start at the prospect of jumping in new country. Bassets are such FUN!
All I know is, foxhunting and Basset hunting is a LOT better and more meaningful exercise than going to the gym. Not that I ever go to the gym…
Photos!! ASAP!!
I don’t think I can post them on here. Friend me on Facebook and then you can look at them on there…
So sad I couldn’t make it 10 wabbits, wow!!! Do come out again!
My dog loves the Bassets and other hounds at the dog park. They romp and play together, which is kinda special since he looks very much like a fox.

Would love to see the fun.

Foothounds are fab
Although I haven’t been out in ages, I loved going out with the beagles. When my ex and I were in NY, we (rather me for most of the time we were there) took care of the Old Chatham beagles (he was the huntsman for the OCH foxhounds). I had the privledge (sp??) to whip in when we went out informally. It was a blast. And of course beagle puppies are the cutest.
