ASPCA Maclay Finals

I had wondered how she got into the final as well… I saw her stop at Maclay Regionals so was a head scratcher. Makes sense that if you place in the other finals you get an automatic bid, so I assume its somethign like that.

Thanks—makes sense.

This is in line with what else has been said by others about the boys missing the mark on several other aspects of the rides.

At this level one would expect their trainers to work on this with them.

Does anyone know anything about the horse she rode? It’s remarkable they were able to partner so well so quickly. She has a big, bright future ahead of her!

No, it absolutely is not in line. There is a big difference between “I do not care for Sam’s hunched shoulders and he didn’t really hand gallop” and “I cannot stand SAM! He looks like a hunchback!!! He did not reserve the win. yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck!!!1”

A lot of people don’t like the outcome of this year’s finals and have complained.

I didn’t realize Sam is only 15. That’s quite impressive.

He and Brian both played it safe in the second round, but it paid off for them (and I imagine that to make a hand gallop really LOOK drastic on Brian’s horse, he’d have to have been flying - that horse almost goes in slow motion). All of the top 10 rode really well today.

But no one else said I can’t stand Sam. You attacked him, not his riding. There is a difference.

oh come on people lighten up. You guys take yourselves way to seriously.

now back to the rest of the programming.

Who is Andre training these days?

I feel kind of sad that it’s all over. Loved the live feed availability for those of us at home.

FWIW, I ride with hunched shoulders too. It is a result of my personal conformation. I sit and drive and otherwise live like that outside riding also. I physically can’t do square shoulders like other people. Mine are square for me, but my shoulder blades always give the appearance of hunch.

It doesn’t impact my riding ability though it isn’t the most sightly thing in the world. I am a quiet and effective rider (most of the time!) and that is what matters. I don’t think being a “hunchback” should be penalized severely any more than being short or stocky should.

I have always done pretty well in eq despite this flaw, when I find the jumps correctly. Probably because I have a really good lower leg and am soft. But I have never had a judge or trainer try to force my shoulder blades in a way they can’t go for looks.

You are not taking your comments seriously enough.

Bullying is covered in safe sport training.

I have always found sloping shoulders in a rider to be a conformational blemish, not an unsoundness.

I hope to watch the replays later as I was at a horse show all day, so I can’t comment on anyone’s execution on this particular day.

I took the training and this is not that.

Lighten up.

A lot of people are not happy with the results and how things played out with a number of the riders.

McKayla showed him earlier this season. He belongs to a client of the Goguen’s who I believe isn’t riding much any more. He’s a lovely horse.

You were not discussing the results. You made ugly, personal comments about a child. No one was flawless today, which left the results up to the people paid to decide them.

How wonderful people came together to make sure she had a mount and for Emma and the whole team for looking out for Carl’s best interest! Everyone should feel great about that!

And Jimmy had him as the winner too:

I love that view of the sloping shoulders!

Has anyone seen videos posted of the second round anywhere? So far I’ve caught up with a few first rounds and tests, but no second rounds yet.
