See? Like my OP. It put an asterisk in before the smiley. I had a space there.
Maybe it only shows up on my computer and I need a tinfoil hat or something.
you may need to blow out or vacuum your keyboard. Might be a little something around the “8” key

Oh, good question meupatdoes. It only happens on COTH. I’ve even gone in and edited my notes to remove the asterisk/s. And they don’t show up WHILE I’m typing. Just after I submit the post. Then I see them in the thread. When I go back to edit, THEN I can see them. But then when I remove them, perhaps replace them with a space, they show up again in the edited post.
Oh well, in the little annoying things in life this is pretty far down the list, but it’s still annoying!
What browser are you using?
Safari. I am on an old outdated Mac computer. And dialup.

If you try Chrome or Firefox, does that solve the problem? Sometimes browsers do really weird things on this forum. IE is often possessed…maybe there’s something wonky with how your version of Safari plays with the board?
