Attempting to track down OTTBs

I was curious to know if anyone’s had success tracking down thoroughbreds and what the best avenue was to do so. I have jockey papers but no additional information that leads anywhere. Stables listed don’t seem to be running at this point.

I’m looking for information on She’s More Daring as well as The Path To Success. Both are NY bred. I’m interested in finding out where either has ended up career-wise, how they’ve been in terms of health and conformation, I own a relative who is an absolute once-in-a-lifetime gem and would like to offer a safe place to land in the event that either needed it. I have no idea how to track this info down so any insight is appreciated!

How do you have jockey papers on horses you did not own?

I assume the OP has the race record, not the registration papers, Palm Beach.

She’s More Daring last raced 20 years ago. She had several foals (five shown here on PQ) and the last was bred by Southern Comfort Stables in Tennessee and that is the last owner of record with the Jockey Club. This mare would be 27 now–she’s probably died. She was a successful racehorse placing in several stakes and went on to be a broodmare, unfortunately not producing anything that could run near as well as she could.

There is no horse named The Path To Success. There are two Path to Success horses–a 2006 ridgling and a 1983 mare, both FL bred.

Oh, you’re asking about Thepathtosucess. He’s unraced. Bred by Eric Sharp in NY. Equibase knows about him, so he may have had a work at some point. There is a picture of him at Pedigree Query. Here’s an old ad. And a video. Another old ad.

Sorry - I was not very clear in the post - I meant I have registration papers of the relative that I own, not papers on the two horses I’m looking for information on.

Simkie - I was actually looking for Thepathtosucess but aside from the information listed on Pedigree Query, I was not able to find much. Don’t know how you found the video and ads since neither came up in my searches (assumed it was mis-spelled when entered into PQ) but thank you SO SO much! Judging by his video and the description - he’s a carbon copy of his dam who I purchased from Eric many years ago. I can’t thank you enough for this information. I’m really hoping he’s currently in safe hands.

No magic, just google  The spelling of the name is weird, but guessing that’s how it had to be to fit within the JC naming limit. If you ever doubt PQ, just go to Equineline–that’s straight from the Jockey Club. Equibase for racing info.

I love your google-fu.

On a somewhat similar note was pleasantly surprised when I clicked the links and thought this little horse reminded me of an old gelding of mine. Wasn’t surprised to see the DB in the pedigree. I had a Dixie Brass horse who was just the best horse and THE cattiest jumper I have ever owned… This one has a similar head and body. Hope he is in good hands. I was surprised to see he’s in CA - his dam was a Watral horse (as was my DB gelding, came from Watral’s farm) and those tended to stay in/around NY.

Yeah, I’m surprised to see he made it that far as well. That CA ad was active until last month and I found several craigslist ads out of CA with that same text listed so I’m really hoping he’s in safe hands. I own his dam, she’s quite frankly one of the kindest horses I’ve ever met and at 18 this year has remained unbelievably sound and in great competitive shape - I had purchased her at 9 from Eric as a project horse to put some miles on and place in a nice home but she’s just the nicest little mare and I couldn’t bring myself to part with her. He is almost identical to her conformation and temperament-wise. I would really love to track this horse down to offer even just a retirement placement, if he ever required it.

Write or call the owner in the ad, they may still have him or be able to tell you who bought him. And you can put the bug in their ear about a retirement home.

pleasant.
