Can Tuskegee really be that naive? Hell hath no fury like a horseman who’s horse met the knacker’s without their consent.
Going to be a bumpy ride I think.
I believe we call that stone-walling. I too saw it on FB.
I checked her references, even contacted a few of her FB friends, Googled her name, friended her on FB, and checked out her posts in various groups…I pretty much did everything I could, without paying for a background check. The mare I had, was one that I got here, from the COTH Giveaway Forum (and yes, I contacted her previous owner first, who didn’t want her back).
Fallon is very, very convincing. I still have all the many FB messages between us, that say how she would give me regular updates, and contact me if she wanted to sell/re-home her.
This was back in 2014, when she didn’t have the reputation she does now. Now, when you Google her name, all sorts of things pop up.
Now, let me just pause here and say, please think before you judge. I know the knee jerk reaction here is to do just that, but, everyone’s situations here are different, abd unless you have been where we are, then…just…don’t.
I have thick skin, and am wearing my big girl panties, but others may not be.
The goal here is to try and find out what happened to the horses, and find Fallon, so that she will stop scamming people.
I’m so sorry for all those that lost horses to this personification of evil. What I don’t get is how she reconciles vet school - where your goal is to HELP animals - with scamming folk and sending animals to slaughter. I want to crack people like that’s heads open and see just what makes them tick. She sounds like the kind of vet that would shoot a cat with a bow and then brag about it. Hey…are we sure those two are not related?
TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY OFFICIAL TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY STATEMENT ISSUED MAR. 8, 2018:
Tuskegee University has received reports from multiple sources about the involvement of one of its students in what most would consider to be unscrupulous behavior by anyone pursuing a career in veterinary medicine. However, until such time that evidence is presented to the university that provides unquestionable proof of the student’s involvement — and since the alleged behavior reported to the university does not directly involve the university or its facilities, employees or assets — the university is unable to render any opinion of guilt or innocence or take any actions regarding the enrollment status of the student in question. University officials will continue to look into the matter and certainly would cooperate fully with any investigation if initiated by law enforcement agencies.
^^^ Huh. This I just took from their student handbook…
“University Judicial System (UJS) and the Codes of Conduct (COC) have as an underlying principle the assumption that each student is responsible for maintaining acceptable, ethical, moral, and social behavior at Tuskegee University. This section outlines and discusses the primary purpose, procedures, student rights, penalties, and key terms or reference of the UJS and Codes of Conduct”
and
“20. Conduct inappropriate for a Tuskegee University student. This is conduct, which may bring disfavor upon the University. Additionally, students may be sanctioned for conduct which constitutes a hazard to the health, safety, or well-being of members of the University community; or which is detrimental to the University’s interest, whether such conduct occurs oncampus, off-campus, or at university-sponsored events”
and
“34. Off-Campus Misconduct. Any student who violates community law regulation off-campus, so as to bring negative report upon himself/herself and the University, shall be in violation of the Campus Codes of Conduct and punishable as shall be determined.”
Seems any of these might at least lead to an investigation.
Yup.
So who’s Fallon related to, and why are they protecting her?
Follow the money…
My guess is they need police reports, or other evidence filed to proceed. Maybe when that happens she’ll be expelled.
I knew someone who has owned horses forever, and a couple of years ago he told me about someone from around Columbus, GA who would buy cheap horses, or get giveaways, trailer them to southern Florida, and sold to the black market slaughterhouses down there. I wonder if she’s doing the same thing? There is a huge market for horse meat for human consumption in that area, and that’s what the slaughterhouses support. About a year ago I heard a rumor these places are still in business, and horses still being sold there, and though I hope it isn’t true, I’m wouldn’t be surprised that it’s still ongoing.
Getting this woman expelled from vet school won’t stop her though. I’m hoping she’ll never get a vet license either, but I bet she makes a lot of money from these poor animals.
The school cannot react to this as it stands now. As for money, ha, she’s the daughter of a two bit local trainer who is deceased. There’s no money, there’s just no proof.
Though I think this woman is a jerk. I agree with how the school is handling it. Right now this situation is a bunch of internet drama. They can not expel someone because of some rumors on the internet.
I doubt they are just ignoring the situation though. Probably doing some of their own research and waiting for something legal to be done.
Slaughterhouses have vets on staff, I think. That’s the only place she’d be suited to, IMO.
I also read that she may have been supplying the school with horses for it’s “program” and that’s why they are reluctant to step in here. A few people commenting were confirming the practice and had first hand knowledge of what she was doing. No matter where they went, she obviously scammed a lot of people and I wouldn’t want to be in her shoes when Karma catches up with her.
How did it come to light that she’s been selling them to kill buyers? So sorry to all involved, jingles that you can find your ponies.
FWIW I have never, ever seen or heard of any person being punished through the legal system for taking free horses under false pretenses. The real world just doesn’t care. Because the horses are giveaways with zero dollar value, there are no damages to collect. After a horse disappears it’s extremely difficult to prove intent, or that the horse wasn’t in fact sick or unsuitable. It’s also generally impossible to prove what happened to the horse. It’s easy enough for someone to claim that it died of natural causes or that they gave it to someone else (and of course it’s illegal to trespass on other people’s property to verify anything). When a horse is sold anonymously through an auction there is no proof of identity.
Even in this case, is there any proof that the horses have gone to slaughter? All the owners know in this case is that this woman has collected multiple horses that have disappeared, and they believe the horses have gone to auction. To me, it’s highly likely that the horses DID end up at auction, but there doesn’t seem to be any proof.
According to the Netposse article, there is an “application for an arrest warrant” and people are pursuing “criminal and federal charges” but oddly Netposse does not mention the accused person by name in the article or on the website. Indeed, even in the reports on Netposse (at least the ones I looked at) the name of this person does not show up. Does anyone have an explanation for that? I will be following this story, but I think it is unlikely that there will be any “arrest” or legal penalties for this person.
I agree with Djones–the school cannot punish her until they have proof. If they were to punish her based on accusations and without proof they would be exposing themselves to a lawsuit.
As an aside, I want to make it clear that I’m not judgmental towards those who were taken in by this person. I lost a precious older horse to someone like this years ago and I’ll never give away an older horse again. Since then I’ve realized that many people make a little extra money by collecting unwanted horses with the promise of a good home and quietly funneling them to auction, usually through a friend or relative so that they keep their hands “clean.”
Is the scammer actually a vet student? or is she just saying that so that her victims will be more inclined to turn their horses over to her. Needless to say the vet school still needs to know there is either a student or a women fraudulenting claiming to be a student of that vet school, and her actions could potentially harm the school’s reputation. Horrible just horrible.
Mara-The man who told me about this said the black market horse slaughter houses in south Florida have been under the radar for years, and I doubt they have any personnel except the ones who do the dirty work, and resell the meat.
I was thinking more along the lines of bovine slaughterhouses, not the black market stuff.
Yeah, if she does get licensed, we can only hope memories are long and she has a hard time getting clients.
The problem with these situations as is, no mater how repulsive and sickening her behavior, unless she broke a written contract there may not be any law being broken to charge her with and therfore stop her. It would depend on the state laws on verbal contract and sellers rights and obligations.
Terrible people like this make a living just quietly flying under the radar up here in Canada because it is completely legal.
my absolute sympathy for all who have been taken by this waste of air.
Mara-Sorry I misunderstood completely.
Unfortunately, I think Pandoras plight is right. Unless people can prove with hard evidence that she committed fraud, or some other offense, then virtually nothing can be done about her.
