Local hunt club attire regulations make no specific distinctions on boots appropriate for field members other than “tall, black, dress”. I once heard someone talk about toe shape, though. I happen to have a couple pair of tall boots…one has a very rounded toe. The other has a slightly tapered/slightly pointed shape toe. Is one type of these types of boots preferred over the other?
Some hunts are very strict on attire, and others are less formal. Just ask. I would think the strict ones “might” look down on a square toe, but I don’t think a pointed, vs sloped would make that big of a difference, particularly in the saddle. They just want a tradition, uniform look. No tan or exotics cuffs, apparently dress only.
I agree with rememberthenight, it all depends on the hunt. But every hunt secretary out there would be elated that you even thought to ask (even if they aren’t strict about attire)! It shows your respect for the hunt and their traditions.

Yes, our hunt secretary loves when members ask her questions about attire. We are more relaxed and rarely wear our colors at home (and NEVER BRAID) but they still like for us to look neat and presentable. Sometimes having so much freedom is worse than having an outlined criteria. It has ended up costing me a lot more money since I can wear colored stock ties, vests, tweeds, any color shirt, and tan or rust breeches… And it’s always a blast color coordinating everything…
I hunt in my Ariat Volants (with the fabric on the sides) and have yet to find a hunt that had an issue with me wearing them.
