ATTN Current USEF members! Help me save canary breeches!
There are two proposed rule changes (#370-14 and #375-14) that would do away with canary breeches as proper attire, and instead limit it to only white or buff breeches. While you may not wear them, some of us “old school” show//fox hunt people still do wear our ultra-traditional canary breeches when competing in formal classes, and should not be excluded from doing so when canary breeches are the most appropriate formal breech color for ladies for hunting (which the show hunters are still supposedly based on).
To help, please submit a comment on both of the proposed rules by going to the comment section at the bottom of this page and filling out the comment form BY NOVEMBER 1st: https://www.usef.org/_IFrames/RuleBo…PRCChater.aspx.
The two rule proposals are here: https://www.usef.org/documents/ruleChanges/370-14.pdf; https://www.usef.org/documents/ruleChanges/375-14.pdf
This was my comment, please feel free to reuse or edit:
“Canary breeches should not be excluded from formal attire rules. While less common, they are still available, and still most correct for formal wear in the fox hunting world, which the show hunters are still based on. Not to mention, some of us ‘old school’ show/hunt people actually wear ours when competing in formal hunter classes! The rule should remain: ‘white, or buff, or canary breeches…’ for acceptable attire.”
Seriously, you would think that the governing body would have more important matters to concentrate on than this…
