Perhaps this topic, aside from actual new developments, should be restricted to private messages. It’s pretty much ad nauseam at this point with the last thread just being closed.

@Angela_Freda not sure why it replied to you. That was not my intention, sorry!!

i agree. I avoid the MB topics like the plague, and yet, here it comes again, but in disguise this time.

Perhaps the first post should be edited to make it more acceptable

He was found NOT GUILTY and because of that will go free after his evaluation.

"Kanarek posted several cryptic messages to Facebook in the weeks leading up to her being shot. One such status, posted on August 5, reads, “Ill present my tests. If for no other reason than to prove this: if a trainer refuses 2do his/her job — despite obscene amounts of $$ being paid — I’ll do it myself! #eyeontheball” "

Obscene amounts of money?

I wonder why these threats never were shared by the prosecution? (My bold):

The allegations, made by Paige Ervin, read in full:

Yesterday, my friend Lauren Kanarek was shot in her heart twice by her trainer, Michael Barisone. Lauren is/was a client of Michael’s and lived temporarily on his farm with her horses. Michael was arrested on the scene for shooting Lauren. **They had been in an ongoing dispute that escalated to the point of Lauren having to hire lawyers and report Michael to Safe Sport, USEF and FEI **

Michael has made death threats to Lauren and her family and warned her to sleep with one eye open.
Michael also broke Lauren’s fiancé’s wrist when he attempted to wrestle the gun out of Michael’s hands.
Lauren made it through surgery last night and made it through over night. She is still unconscious and in critical condition.

Please send Lauren healing vibes. She needs all the help and support she can get right now.
I also truly hope that this doesn’t turn into another popularity contest vs the objective facts of attempted murder.

Lauren has posted openly on her personal page about her on going troubles with Michael as well. You can certainly go there and read her posts – I have some screen shots as well. This whole situation is horrible and there are no winners.

It looks like New Jersey got rid of qualified immunity. I wonder if he tried if MB could reopen the case-not that he needs anymore legal stuff to deal with in his life.

**corrected-not eliminated but changed appeal process

Especially after his trial that was so poorly supported by forensics, etc.

Except he was only found Not Guilty of Attempted Murder and gun charges for shooting at RG. He was found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity for shooting LK twice and causing her to flatline twice. That is the verdict that has him in AK undergoing evaluation because he was found to be a danger to himself or others. The prosecutor proved the case that MB shot LK twice; however, it is not a crime because he was insane, under a delusion at the time. Hopefully, they will come up with a successful treatment plan for him so he can heal and regain his life. His trial was delayed, not by any fault of anyone involved in LE but because of a pandemic.

If it wasn’t for RG stopping an Active Shooter and the quick response of LE, it could have been much worse. No one died. Everyone has a chance to recover their lives and keep healing.

This thread is a Public Service Announcement that there are consequences to shooting people.

So good to know your family is there for you. Prayers for all of you for strength, for comfort, and a good response to treatment. .

I’m gonna get myself invited to MBs welcome home BBQ come hell or high water.

Y’all know the type of BBQ you can have when you’re not guilty and have been released. And I know who is getting the first postcards!!

Ya know what? I wouldn’t have bothered commenting had i known that this was a michael barisone thread. In fact, i wouldn’t have bothered even clicking-on and opening it had it been properly identified as such.

Not much has changed in my daily routine since Aug 7 2019. A few little changes.

Shoulder replacement in Dec 2019. Broken ankle in Jan 2022.

Shut down our on farm business after 26 years.

Bought 8 beef heifers and a young bull and their first calves will be here sometime next month

I started riding my young QH gelding.

Trying to successfully get a Barn cat fixed and her current 4 kittens to adoptable age.

That is life on the farm. Everything else is just day to day.

Let’s see…

A little early but July 2019, I retired.
2020 went back to work PRN (as needed) then March 2020…COVID.

Went back to work July 2020 but called it a career in December 2020. I wasn’t working enough to maintain competency which is a bad thing for a pharmacist. I mean, things were changing 180 degrees in a month! Then again the next month. I found it difficult to keep up virtually and was only needed about once per month. I also moved my mother in with me so now had a 24/7/365 job.

October 2020 I moved my 90yo mother in with me. She had reached the point to need a fair amount of assistance and no way was I putting her in assisted living or a nursing home in COVID times. We had to sell her house and greatly pare down her possessions. She is now 92 and still with me .

November 2021, I moved my horse to a different stable. She had been at the previous place 15 out of the 17 years I had owned her. I have been able to ride much more consistently and having fun. There is a bunch of old ladies at the new barn (and that includes me :+1:) and we get along very well.

It seems I have thus far avoided COVID. I try hard to protect Mom.
