Opposite to KM I went back to work.

I now have too many jobs. I really should think about quitting some, however I still find joy with every dollar that comes in at the moment.

We have had good health for years. Then we lost hubby’s dad extremely quickly. I ended up with a boil on my back from hornet stings, then a head cold and now both hopefully getting over Covid.

We have gone from a severe drought that meant losing most of our cattle to recently 4 months of rain so we can’t ride. I had to put my horse down last week.

a $6.4 trillion increase in the M2 money supply between March 2020 and the end of 2021. This was a massive and unprecedented 42% increase in only 22 months, far more than could be absorbed by economic growth,

and now we have leadership that just wonders way there is runaway inflation

Oh S - I am so sorry. That is a lot of losses to handle.

The downside:

  • I lost my father (age 99-1/2, a WWII fighter pilot and child of the Great Depression - a member of The Greatest Generation)

  • I lost my aunt (the last of my mother’s siblings and the person I got my horse passion from)

  • I had to euthanize my beloved riding horse (had bought him at 3 mos of age and he passed just shy of his 17th birthday)

  • I had to euthanize my retired mare (my homebred, age 18-1/2 when she passed)

  • I hung up my spurs for good

  • I gained way too much weight during the Covid lockdown (and not riding)

The upside:

  • While closing out my father’s estate, we discovered my grandfather’s WWI Purple Heart and his Masonic ring (sentimental treasures that had been tucked away in my father’s dresser drawer since Gramps passed)

  • I (and many hundreds of my co-workers) convinced our employer we could keep the business thriving while working from home

  • With no horses to support, I have saved MANY tens of thousands of dollars for our retirement

  • I went back to school and finished another degree (the oldest in my class by far - LOL)

  • I bought a new car - a German import (Mercedes SUV)

  • We managed to avoid getting Covid (so far!)

I won’t get into political issues because that kind of stuff in this forum can get the thread shut down. But suffice it to say, I haven’t been thrilled with any President for a long, long time. Nor with many members of Congress.

Edited to add that I also learned far more about NPD, DID, and drug addiction, as well as about how unfair the criminal justice system can be. And I learned more about how criminal trials proceed.

Because it actually is about Michael Barisone and the amount of time he has been incarcerated, even after being found Not Guilty. This post is a reminder of what has gone on in our lives and the world while he has sat in a small cell…waiting to be free again to resume his life.

Life moves continually forward.

I got my masters degree.
I bought two wonderful horses, an unstarted WB mare and a young PRE.
I trained said mare to first level.
I got my bronze.
I bought a house.
My brother and sister in law had a beautiful baby girl.
I freed myself from an emotionally abusive relationship.
My mare had a foal, and then we lost the foal.
I found my dream job, after languishing in academic administration for almost two years.
I have learned more about tendon rehab, keratomas, and keeping senior horses sound than I ever wanted to know.

I don’t understand, Eggbutt. Why would he still be incarcerated if he was found Not Guilty?

Isn’t it more accurate to say that he pled Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity, and the jury agreed and found him NGRI on two counts?

He’s not incarcerated. He’s in a psychiatric facility undergoing evaluation and treatment.

KnightsMom had said she’s very confident he’ll be released within months.

i started weekly dressage lessons in 2019 after spending months seeking a good fit for a coach. It has been a lot of fun and i feel my mare and i are in very good hands.

Also started two other horses with her and am re-training two others. So, mare goes weekly and the other four rotate-in. I take two horses to train each week. Must say, it’s always a pleasure, except for the hauling part. 3hr r/t every week isn’t fun for any of us.

I’ve been taming a bunch of mustangs and now am aboard two of them so far. I’m not sure either of these two are going into training with my coach however. They are awfully shy of other people. Stranger-danger is strong in these guys, and COVID plus my basic reclusive nature has not helped me bring people into their library of experiences.

I changed jobs from my state level position of 11 years to take the same position at the national level which has been a great change, though a daunting amount of responsibility at times. I get to telework 80% now in perpetuity, which is great for my riding.

Other than that, I’ll focus on the dressage

My then three year old WB is now six. I started her at four and no one else has ever sat on her back unless you count two rides by a cowboy before I got her at two. She has been challenging, but is starting to step up and has made me a better rider and trainer for sure!

My appendix mare was injured at the end of 2018 just after conquering training level. We completed a long rehab spring of 2020, showed first level last year, and she is going to step her hoof in at second level in a couple weeks. We are learning together as this is the farthest I’ve ever brought a horse along.

I’ve probably taken more lessons in the past three years than in the rest of my riding life before that and have improved commensurately.

At first I misread that as “bolt on my back,” and I thought, wow, those must have been some tough hornets! Lol.

Hope you continue to feel better. I’m so sorry for your losses.

I was thinking this morning that three years have passed. That’s just unreal.

It has been interesting (and frustrating) to learn about the justice system.

Hoping that the upcoming hearing brings good news for MB.

I concur.

I feel like we have been seriously misled by all these years of Law and Order reruns.

I was diagnosed with CLL. Its a cancer that I can supposedly live with but it sure makes things difficult since it has caused significant lung damage.

I cannot say enough how wonderful my family has been, as I have been pretty much reduced to the position of the family’s pet rock.

ETA. As equestrians/farm owners we probably underestimate the amount of muscle we pack on. I have lost 40 lbs and look like a prepubescent couch potato.

Hugs to you, @Graymaresrule …

But why the need for this MB thread ? No new developments - which is the only reason that a new thread can start - as we have been told. I wish to continue discussing and following the case and not endanger any future discussions - by getting the entire topic shut down for good.

I hadn’t seen this article before. So “new”?
I’m glad to see him receive so much support

This is what is good about our elite, niche sport.
I hope we see more of this “family” feeling in our ranks.
