…concludes what was many of us believed to begin with - this was nothing more than a freak accident.
BTW…I do like how it reads “Privilidged Infomation. Not for publication” and I found it on TB Times!

Here it is for all to read: Eight Belles’ Necropsy Final Report

from the Thoroughbred Times: Eight Belles’ necropsy finds no pre-existing bone problems
The necropsy determined that Eight Belles suffered compound fractures in both front legs at the fetlock joints.
Dr. Lafe Nichols, chief state veterinarian, also found no disease or cardiovascular condition affecting the pulmonary systems or other major organs. That determination should end speculation that the horse first collapsed before suffering the leg injuries.
The report also noted a hemorrhage surrounding the left thyroid gland that measured three by five centimeters. The pathologist concluded that this injury was likely caused when she fell.
“No pathology was found to indicate the occurrence of any other catastrophic event beside the fractured legs,” the pathologist concluded. “No pre-existing bone pathology was observed.”
from the Blood Horse: Eight Belles Necropsy Report Released
The necropsy was performed at the Livestock Disease Diagnostic Center at the University of Kentucky. The results of routine post-race drug testing have not yet been received. That testing is being performed at the authority’s official laboratory at Iowa State University.
…
At its regularly scheduled May 19 meeting, the KHRA will be asked by its chairman, Robert Beck Jr., to form a work group to study health and safety issues relating to thoroughbred racing.
“Nothing is more important to the racing industry than the safety of the competitors,” said Lisa Underwood, executive director of KHRA.
Why would euthanasia cause the lungs to be congested?
Note: I am NOT suggesting anything other than a freak accident was the cause of EB’s death. Just curious. I guess I’d never thought of the physical process of how euthanasia actually euthanizes before.
Post mortem lividity, gravitational settling of blood and bodily fluids.
Drug report has returned as well - as expected she was clean of any illegal drugs.
BloodHorse 5-16-08 “Eight Belles Tests Negative for Steroids”
tested negative for all banned substances, including steroids, according to test results from the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority’s official laboratory at Iowa State University.
Lisa Underwood, KHRA executive director, said the test results were returned to her office late in the day on May 16.
Eight Belles was the only Kentucky Derby or Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) participant to undergo steroid testing. Underwood said the KHRA suggested to her trainer, Larry Jones, that a steroid test be performed on the daughter of Unbridled’s Song after speculation that the large grey or roan filly had been administrated the substances and that they might have played a role in her breakdown during the gallop out after the Derby.
In addition to the steroid test, Eight Belles, who was owned by Rick Porter’s Fox Hill Farm, underwent the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association Super Test and was tested for TCO2 (milkshake), a mixture of bicarbonate and/or other alkaline substances that is fed to a horse before it competes. The mixture produces higher levels of carbon dioxide, which delays the buildup of lactic acid in a horse’s muscles and is believed to increase stamina.
Hopefully the mindless comments and whispering by the ignorant - e.g. “she was a big filly because she was put on drugs” - will end.
Big Brown – Big Deal: Eight Belles Death Just a Freak Accident?
“Thoroughbred Times” ostensibly clears the report on Eight Belles – and Iraq had WMD (weapons of mass destruction). Only after the game is played does the truth surface. A thyroid hemorrhage is not the result of a fall. Moreover, that has to do with either Eight Belles herself or her dam having been subjected to hormones or other drugs. The rest is history.
So now, all the gullible horse racing aficionados have had their fix today. Big Brown “sails” through the Preakness against a field with negligible competition, and wins. This is a sport? His victory is like someone with his masters inducted into Phi Beta Kappa against a class of sophomores. This is no victory. It is a rigged, corrupt, money making machine that capitalizes and exploits the poor working fool who thinks, hopes, and dreams of someday getting rich quick.
Meanwhile, Eight Belles is dead, and nobody seems to remember why. The beat goes on, and as long as everyone is anesthetized by the dream, they accept the nightmare. Poor fools.
Dear God, please spare us from trolls.
Amen
You’re right! And I think you should make every effort within your power to spread the word; why bother posting on a message board on the internet? you should go camp out in front of Belmont Park 24/7 for the next three weeks, make signs, preach to the crowd, wearing bright color clothes so you can get as much attention as you can; in fact, I’d bet if you make enough noise, you’ll get on the news, and there are a lot of news stations in NY. :D:D:D

What makes you think I haven’t protested the Triple Crown? We are all entitled to express our ideas online, equally. If you have a problem with mine, it’s only because something has hit a nerve here for you.
Your trivialization of the death of Eight Belles is insipid.
Talk about hitting a nerve…just where and how was I trivializing the death of Eight Belles? I simply made a reply to your post, no need to get your panties in a twist and put words in my mouth…you have NO clue what I think of the death of Eight Belles.
Talk about insipid, we have a live one here.
Double Amen! There’s another thread about ‘tongue ties’…anyone thinking what I’m thinking!!!
