Baby bunnies in manure pile!

Be careful shovel![](ng out the manure pile!

I was hacking at it rather vigorously with one of these:

as I am doing some gardening and needed the good stuff from the middle
when out rolled a little poop ball that wasn’t quite like the others (but almost!)

Shook me up as I thought the little guy was done for, but he seemed all right:

Another sibling emerged, this one with his eyes open and a bit more lively.

I relocated both of them to the other side of the pile, not thinking they would really make it through the night, but both were doing well this morning in the little nest of hay I made them, so mama bunny must have found them.

Here they are tonight, both snug as a bug:

Baby bunnies are so cute! I found one for the first time last year when I was mowing the pasture and ran over it. Luckily it was small enough that it ducked and didn’t get its little bunny head chopped off.

Your last picture is the same to the second-to-last picture - I want to see both of them!

Th![](nk I fixed it, but here they are just a few minutes ago:

Honestly, I am surprised they survived the cold night, neighborhood foxes, and my (necessary) handling.

Yep - I have tons of bunnies in my manure pile! Sadly my barn cat also knows this and occasionally brings me a baby bunny

I’ve had a nest in my manure pile before. All lined with fluffy mama bunny hair. It’s a nice warm place for baby bunnies!

OMG SO CUTE !!

They are ADORABLE! Thank you for taking the time to make sure they’re all right.

Awwww…we didn’t take pictures, but my duck (I have a pet duck) goes out in the fenced garden at my parents’ house. Her tub for water had been overturned, and I flipped it over and there was a big pile of dried grass under it. I didn’t pay much attention and was filling the tub when Duck went and shook up the grass–and about eight little baby voles went flying! I managed to round them back up and found another tub to cover up their nest. No bigger than my thumb.

Awww for the bunnies. I hope the mother didn’t abandon them. they are soooo cute.

Eww for the voles. Sorry, I know, babies are cute, but I guess the coyotes need something to dig up. Not a vole fan. But babies are cute!

ACK! Too cute! I wonder if they are jack rabbits or cottontails. Either way - adorable!

The stripe on their heads means they still need their mama and wild mama rabbits only visit their children once a day. If mama has abandoned them, apparently baby bunnies are a misery to raise as their bottle feed is quite specialized.

I learned about baby bunnies a year or so ago when one of my cats brought me one. I took him to the local wildlife rescue and I have a sneaking suspicion that they let him die.

For some reason rabbits love our some what unmanicured town yard. This time of year my mini aussie goes out on a plastic coated dog tie out attached to the deck. She thinks baby bunnies are squeaky toys and loves to run around with them in her mouth.

This made me LOL. Reminds me of that nursery rhyme about Little Bunny Foo Foo for some reason.
