"Back Off!" done right?

My horse comes when I wave a banana or call his name. Like a dog. He doesn’t come when I throw dirt and I have never had to throw dirt at him because he’s not a pushy animal.

Oh I certainly didn’t start out bopping on the nose, my preference is to go for the chest or shoulder! (It was a mild bop, as my problem is I’m afraid to be too rough with them).

They’re getting better now they realize there’s nothing interesting for them when I go into the paddock. The best reaction was when I took some random pool cleaning implement in with me and waved it around in their general direction…

a real dilemma for sure. happens. BUT. I’m older now. I won’t worry about antics with other’s horses anymore to go get my OWN horse I pay for in a boarding situation. I’d ask for any other paddock/pasture mates that my horse would get along with if possible. I’d also be VERY upset if my ‘antics’ ended up affecting my own horse coming in…not fair they get confused when they’re doing what they’re trained for and being good. that said : I’d spend ‘training time’ when you can not INVOLVING your horse in your one hand and frantic actions with the other hand and being pony mugged. I’d work on: when you two spawnsofsatan see me at the gate you don’t want a piece of me. and I’d really try to leave my frustration and antics with THEM not my behaving horse.
