What are people’s experiences with these and how are they intended to work? I’ve seen some people that use them all the time, just wondering what the hoopla is about.
My husband and I each have their scarves. DH loves his so much I think he only takes it off to shower! (Kidding, but not by much!) We both feel a difference in shoulder/neck tightness from them.
I’ve got several other of their products for myself and my horses, too. Seems to help the horses if the BOT sheets are worn before and after a ride.
Bot sheets have been game changers for my horses. Both are slow to warmup in cold weather and can be tight backed. After wearing the sheets they are warmed up and supple at the start of the ride. I usually have them wear the sheet overnight and then ride in the morning, but even wearing for a hour or two before riding makes a big difference. You can use them 24/7. I really didn’t think they’d make such a difference but I am a total believer.
BOT products are a gamechanger for my old broken body- eleminates pain on old broken, arthritic bones. I must have a dozen different pieces. BOT replaced NSAIDS, aspirin, ibuprofen and other painkillers.
My horse wears the quick wraps when he has any swelling or inflammation in his legs and hoof wraps for hoof problems.
And my old dog used to wear the dog blanket for arthritis and joint problems.
Yep, I’m a believer and the hoopla is for real because the products work.
This is fascinating! Wondering how it would work for my dad’s feet for Raynaud’s? I’ve been googling around and while the science still makes no sense to me, hey, I’m no scientist! Very interesting.
love love love. Horse has mesh sheet and hock boots. Makes a difference! Not a fan of the saddle pads ONLY because they are so stiff and hair really clings to underside. Personally I have a couch throw and a mattress pad for home and camper beds. Love love love.
If circulation or inflammation is part of his problems, BOT may help. As soon as my old horse gets puffy ankles I put on his BOT overnight and the next day his ankles are normal. The BOT products create their own heat by reflecting the body’s own heat back off the ceramic fibers/threads.
They have a small , 20+ X20+ pad that is great to wrap around any affected area. Sometimes I sleep on it for bad broken
parts in my back/spine. The pain relief is almost immediate, maybe in 20 min., and feels great the next day.
I believe all their products promote better circulation.
My old horse loves his when it gets cold.
I often sleep in the t-shirt, leggings, and socks. Also own the glove liners, fingerless mitts (for wrists), knee and elbow braces, neck brace, and the scarf.
Horses have BOT saddle pads, polo bandages (gift with purchase), and mesh sheet. Thinking about cutting up the polos to make something I’d find more useful for the horses.
Elderly dog had a mini blanket, and loved it.
I’m a believer.
Me too!
I have 3 pair of the glove liners and usually sleep with one pair on…old arthritic fingers.
Scarf is amazing. I also have the back, knee and wrist braces …
The ‘Welltex Tape’ is a game changer for the arthritis in my thumbs.
I work at a tack store and many, many of us use the products on ourselves and our horses. I am a huge skeptic of magnets and intangible therapies, but BOT works. The back brace absolutely saves me when I start to feel a muscle spasm/twinge/crooked episode begin. The gloves help my arthritic fingers. I like the hock boots and mesh sheet for horses.
BOT usually goes on sale a couple times a year for 20% off, a good time to stock up. The ceramic powder embedded in the fibers (Welltex fabric) does not wash out and does not diminish over time.
I bought a mattress pad several years ago and I realized it worked because I don’t need to stretch in bed for 5-10 minutes before a foot goes over the side. It came with a sort of a pouffy pad that I put on the pillow. The knee brace helps when it starts getting out of whack.
I have four baby pads and place one over his back as soon as he comes in. During the winter I use a much larger insulating pad. He also has a therapeutic western pad that goes under a swayback pad for therapeutic lessons. He’s 25,
There are a number of people who use BOT products and love them. One family has an aging dog with hip problems, and he now has a wardrobe of jackets and a fancy mattress that stays in the car. He’s waiting for his limited edition dog bed to arrive.
I wash everything in a mild detergent in cold water and air dry. I put the baby pads in the dryer on air fluff for 10-15 minutes which helps get rid of the hair. My proprioception is not very good so I don’t feel the benefits the way that others do. From my point of view the fact that they are still in business at their price point is a pretty good indication that anecdotal evidence is driving their market. Their Equine Affaire booth is always packed.
I’m a huge believer and was VERY skeptical before trying them on my gelding. I use the BOT quick wraps and my gelding actually lives in one 24/7 (even goes into a field with it) post tendon sheath tear to protect the fetlock area. We change it every other day. They don’t hold up great to washing but are fine for normal use (my liners get washed almost weekly so they are beat up). I also recommend the mesh sheet for pre/post workout if your horse has any muscle or arthritis issues.
My husband actually put one of the BOT wraps on his ankle after a snowboarding incident and he told me he actually thought it reduced inflammation/pain after the hour he wore it! You do need to put them on gradually at first, 30 minutes for a few times, then an hour, then they can be worn for longer after that period.
My experience is that BOT works well on some horses but maybe not so well on others. My older gelding loads off his right hock onto his left ankle. The only thing that pulls the puffiness out of his ankle is his BOT wraps. Poulticing does not work on him at all. So I use them frequently on him. I have a BOT sheet that I use at horse shows.
I am so not a person who loves gimmicks but I can not tell enough people and recommend BOT enough. I have so many examples of how they have improved my life.
3 years ago I broke my leg in 4 places. I had surgery, pins plates screws etc. The minute the cast was off I wore a BOT ankle brace. My leg felt amazing, no swelling and no pain. I would take it off for a few hours and my leg would blow up within an hr. I wore the brace for months, while recovering and wore it to do yoga. I have full range of motion and the surgeon said my leg healed incredibly after our 6 month after cast check up.
I struggled with carpal tunnel in my 20s from cleaning so many stalls and working in an office, and having tiny hands. I was a candidate for surgery and was planning it, when I thought I would try the wrist band. I wore it for 2 weeks and my carpel tunnel went away completely. It was crazy. I have recently had flare ups and waking up with burning hands and numb arms, really painful. I put the same wrist band on and that night I had the first pain and tingle free sleep. Been fine ever since.
I have had many successes with the horses too, but these are examples I can confirm, from feeling the benefits myself.
I just recently bought my dog the dog rug, he has been having a stiff hip. As soon as I put it on, he went and layed in the window for 2 hours just totalyl content.
It’s magic.
I really like my BOT products! I have the saddle pad and the therapeutic back pad. The therapeutic back pad is meant to be sewn into blankets I believe but I use it as a saddle pad. The back pad was won and I really like it. It isn’t something that I would be thought to spend money on but now that I have it, I love it!
The concept behind the products is a heating action that helps warm up the horses and helps with circulation. My horse is occasionally cold backed so I use the saddle pad products. They are mainly useful in the winter since we have cold winters and hot summers.
I would be cautious about using their other products. I have found horses drenched in sweat when they are left on too long. Also, read the instructions on the BOT website. You are supposed to slowly build the products into your routine with 15 mins, 30 mins, 45, and building up to an hour. I would keep a close eye when using the blankets and every horse reacts differently. It helps
I was skeptical about their products at first but now I use them almost every single day in the winter and they are very helpful for early horse show mornings. I suggest getting the therapeutic back pad and using it as a saddle pad under a thin pad, a half pad, then the saddle. I haven’t tried the human products yet but I probably should!
After using them on myself and horses LUV LUV LUV
I personally haven’t seen a difference in my horse – but, my horse isn’t old and arthritic. I have tried the crown piece (saw no difference), the full top of head hat looking thing (saw no difference, but my horse has a huge forelock), the full body mesh sheet (used after rides), and I have the no-bows. I still have the no bows and use them on occasion, but they aren’t a substitute for poulticing or sweating, so I don’t tend to use them very much.
I’d probably have used the sheet more often if my horse didn’t hate blankets.
Everyone else still seems to love it though, and I want to get a BOT quarter sheet at some point So, I haven’t quite given up… but, haven’t seen a huge difference in my creature before and after.
I LOVE their physio compression socks. Its a lighter compression, but they are still wonderful. I use their mesh sheet, brush boots, and polos. My horses legs are cooler with their polos than with any other polo or boot I’ve used.
try the mesh sheet for a half or full hour before you ride and see if it doesnt reduce your warm up time…
How slowly do you have to introduce the quick wraps? I have an older (22) horse who is very sound, but gets very stocked up overnight in her stall. Would like to use the BOT quick wraps for those winter days when it’s too icy to turn out and she only gets out of the stall for an hour or two.
