I guess IK broke a pin and so is given 11. We’ll see if it sticks
I cannot believe they are giving Ingrid 11 points. I’ve seen other horses pound those fences and not get a thing. She breezed over.
Agreed. She loves that horse DEARLY… which is what makes
the whole thing puzzling to me. My only guess as to what she was thinking was the pressure that was on her. Still not an excuse… just trying to wrap my brain around it.
If you think the treatment Amy received after Sparky’s death was mild you must have been a peach to be around in high school because your definition of acceptable ways to treat other people resembles the very worst of a bunch of high school mean girls posting on a slam board on the internet and booing when the ostracized one walks down the hall.
I hope Elisa takes her lumps as appropriate from the governing body and I hope you lot let it go and don’t make bullying her your new cause celebre.
Did they take the bullfinch out? I just started watching.
I watched the replay and the clip was still ugly but actually wasn’t as painful to me as watching it live, part of the distress of watching it live was he had already looked so done leading up to that point and I was really afraid he was going to fall. But I completely agree that if at that point in the course you are going to the stick that much after the fence, and then having to let him go at a pace that was barely a canter, you should have the good sense to put your horse’s interests first and stop. Johnny deserved better, he was awesome when there was gas in the tank.
This course could certainly have been designed with more tact to limit the number of horse falls. Very disappointed in that. You’d think it was designed by CMP. De Grazia did a brilliant job at Rolex by making a technical course that inspired a 2nd-guessing horse to run out rather than jump and leave a leg. Having 2 upright, massive gates near the end that inspires riders to angle to get closer to the time allowed is undeniably dangerous. I understand 4*s are not confidence runs, but with this many experienced horsemen making fatal errors, you have to wonder if the questions asked are unfair. Frangible pins and grease are certainly a godsent today, albeit the former not so much for IK.
no, it’s just the point they switch to the other rider on teh course, so they’ve only shown a couple of people jump it.
What makes those lumps less is if the rider is honest enough to accept the blame. If they hide, obfuscate or otherwise try to push blame away from a very public and obvious poor decision, people will turn negative. My hope she could use this nt only as a teaching moment for her (we are always learning), but tries to use this to teach others. It is better to pull up and try another day then push on when there is no other reason than ego.
Dramatic much? I said Amy was treated too lightly – hardly the major excoriation you describe. And certainly not bullying. Her sanction was quite mild and the only negative “press” she got was largely overseas. I do think the response was mild But this is going way OT.
That rider better give her horse a bag of treeats for the save at the bridge. sliding in and still getting over.
They need to remind people in the crowd with dogs to hold them close and make them heal if they are standing at the ropes. Ingrid Klimke almost ran into two dogs whose owners had obliviously let them wander out on the course even though they were on leads.
ugly fall for French rider #96 at 7a I believe
both thankfully walking away
Lauren on course, think we’ll see any with Mark Todd and a brit ob course
There has been way too much of that today.
Praying for Lauren and Veronica and everyone. This has not been a fun day to watch.
Klimke back on top after 11 removed from score.
This is good to hear because it wasn’t clear the pin should have deployed, and when in doubt, I’d rather the horse and rider get the benefit.
Lauren takes the long at the logs so I wonder if she has also figured that her horse may not have the steam to finish strong and jsut help it get to the end with good energy
Veronica looks like she might be tired already.
