Badminton 2024 Thread!

I think the second is 40. Three refusals is elimination. That must be why he took all the long routes at the end.

I just logged out and back in and now can hear it. Whew!

I am looking at the analysis, and several riders have several x by a fence. Did I hear that they are going to start counting knocking flags as a point off?

i think they said in the future it may be a rule that any knocked flag will be penalized

I took these screenshots of one fence on Boyd’s coursewalk
 Yowza! :flushed:

@Larksmom I think this is the one you were referring to

Interesting Bubby Upton triggered a frangible at 21, the birch rails. I’m not able to watch live this year. Did they show it?

Yes you could see it on the live stream.

yes, front legs hit it hard, on the way up.

they stopped Kylie after she clearly missed the flag at the Vee.

is that new? stop them if there is no doubt rather than a 50 for a missed flag

I think it is harder to produce as high marking a test on grass. It levels the field a bit for the less gifted movers and proves a bit more the fundamentals of the horse’s training. Badminton is one of the most difficult competitions in the world. It’s ok if the dressage is a little harder too.

Tom Crisp “he isn’t going to be swimming again, he is damn sure of that”. I laughed so loud by the commentator remark that my sleeping cats all woke up and looked startled.

That makes me want to vomit. Yowza indeed.

yeah, that is awful. But it seems to be riding OK.

I always wonder about the time. When most of the field has 20 to 30 time faults, it makes me think the time is too tight. But when one or two make it, it makes it seem OK.

They deemed she didn’t jump the fence so eliminated her. Hence the stop.

It seems the circle in front of the log at Sustainability Bay is what is putting some over the time. Megan was on time until she took that longer option which I think most are taking.

The turf at Badminton is beautiful, not just any old field.
Most events in the UK dressage and showjump on grass so everyone should be well used to how to best equip and ride their horses for the grass.
And maybe the Duke of Beaufort just doesn’t want a honking great arena on his estate that only gets used once a year for Badminton, has to be maintained the rest of the time, and doesn’t fit well into the look of an historic park grounds that are used for other non-equestrian events and weddings etc the rest of the year.

What happened with Megan? She got eliminated? (I’m at a horse show and can’t watch :sob:)

Looks like Megan fell at that same jump where Boyd came to grief.
