Badminton anyone?
Any one here able to use VPNs with HughesNet? They claim their service won’t work with VPNs because of Latency. If anyone has been able to make it work, please tell me how.
Maybe this link from Hughsnet will help understand what is going on. From what I read, it is not so much that the VPN wont work, it is that the way Hughnet obtains higher speeds is by manipulating the meta-data (header) and VPN block the reading of that data thus you get the true latency from satellite uplink/downlink (they said about .5 secs at times).

It may be possible to watch a video with enough buffering and non-HD formatting, but if they are operating in the 1.5Mbps range it would be iffy. Try the free UK vpn and see what happens. At worst you’ experience the throw-back years of 19.1K-36K modem connections (ah the good ol days), at best, you can watch XC with minor pauses.

I was thinking the same thing, viney. Also, the scores are much more consistent across the judges. There is usually only about a 1-2 percentage point difference across the 3.

There is a rural channel on my channel list. But I looked for Sat, and I didn’t see Badminton. Also vpn looks good but it doesn’t list the beast, W8:mad:

It would be on FEI TV which is on the rural channel.

I went for the grassroots weds and first bit of dressage thurs. Got my book signed by Carl. Got rained on. Ate doughnuts. It was great

I apologize in advance if this has been answered, but where can I watch in canada? Is FEITV the only way? If love to watch xc day since I just found out I don’t have to work Saturday anymore!

Just looked at the leaderboard after the first full day and was immediately struck by the sheer number of people from Down Under (does that also include Kiwis?) who are packing the top of the leaderboard. I think there are only two Brits in the top ten so far. Are most of the top British names going tomorrow? Was that intentional on the part of the organizers?
maybe this will help?

Also try www.ukipvpn.com or
this for options www.strongvpn.com/?

Some may be a small fee, but worth it to avoid the shucksters of FEI. Currently not in a position to try it out, but later tonight I may on my home system. I once made the mistake of subscribing to FEI TV, I could not unsubscribe without going through way to much b#llsh1t so I finally just sent their emails to spam. As I have no love for things FEI, I prefer to not give them my money. Its enough that I will watch (when I can) Horse trials like the three Bs in Britain and other European events to support the riders.
Thank you!

I agree 100% about the FEI site. Once I signed up, there is no where to cancel. And there was so much advertising content that was cutting out time out of rides. Their annual renewal is automatic, so if they don’t honor my message to cancel I’ll be refusing the charge through the credit card company. It was NOT worth it. (If I watched a lot of show jumping from Europe it may have been a good deal, but I don’t have time. What with letting the commercials step on the rides, it wasn’t the outlet to see Pau etc. that I hoped.)

It will be on FEIT TV on the Rural channel - available through your service provider. FYI this channel is AWESOME…it has FEI TV, Monty Roberts, John Lions, and parelli( if youre into that) every weekend and during the week. Plus they have video of farm equipment working instead of commercials…haha best channel ever.

well, the rural channel on dish has a lot of horse programming, but no Badminton that I can see. I know FEI is a paid for site, and from the bad reviews, I think I won['t pay. Why is Burghley viewable, and not this?

Badminton is on FEI TV - which is shown on the Rural channel (and also online).

Yesterday I tried to enroll in ExPat and I got all the way to the end before I was told that it was not compatible with something I had on my computer and so it could not be installed. Grrrrrrr. So I uninstalled it.

I also tried the links above and could not find anywhere to start the process of signing up. Do I have to have ExPat on my computer to start with?

Color me frustrated. I really want to watch x/c, even if it is after the fact. Is there a way I can do that? Given the time difference I would really prefer to find a site which will stream the rounds later.

Wow. I just looked at dressage scores. WFP is way down the list with Cool Mountain and that is the only horse of his that I can see. With 61 scores reported, I am assuming that both days have been completed and all scores have been posted. – I also only see one American. Hmmmmmmm.

The riders with 2nd horses haven’t really gone yet; they will be at the very end.

Badminton will be interesting to see if it runs the same with the new course designer. In the past as many as 83% of all places were decided by operation of the dressage coefficient; that is to say that dressage was much more influential in all final results than is usual at a 4* where it’s usually between 50 and 60%. The dressage coefficient influence in placings at Badminton has always been much higher than usual–at least over the years that I’ve been tracking it.

So far in terms of numbers the top 23 have dressage scores of 46.5 or under.

I understand the weather was not good yesterday with spurts of hard rain during at least part of the day.

What’s the weather like today?

Loughlan Glen has gone 33.5 and is currently in the lead.

I’m loving listening to Carl Hester and “Pammy” on Badminton radio.

Woohoo!!

Upper 50s/low 60s there it looks like. Some rain today, rain over night, and “steady rain in the morning continuing into the afternoon” tomorrow it looks like.

I think XC could be quite influential. I was looking at the course pictures and the Vicarage V complex definitely made me cringe.

Not sure I’ll be able to watch much tomorrow, but hopefully I’ll find a way to watch at least some!

Go Clark!! So excited for him and Jess and their dedication!! Carl Hester was great to listen to during their ride- “So well ridden” “So brilliantly balanced” “This could be the one”… very exciting!

SO EXCITING FOR CLARK! Wasn’t it a 33.3??? So awesome for USA!

Try this, with the UKIPVPN.com site, you are not installing something as much as just making a new type of connection.

Check out this page on their site (http://www.ukipvpn.com/setup-vpn/) and if you are running Win7 jump down to their instructions. I went through then and found them pretty exact, but when they ask for the user name and password, those are found on the home page. Also, with Win7 you go cirectly to Connect, not create and close. With all that said, I am at work and cannot complete a connection though I will try this tonight.

I am curious how well this one works for I would like to catch some BBC1 or 2 shows at times. I am curious what was the problem with ExPat. Another I cannot try here, but if I have time later will also experiment. At some point I want to ride

I saw that they have removed a “controversial” jump from the XC course, 18B.
