Badminton anyone?

Link to Beeb coverage which starts at 06:50 Est Sat: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/equestrian/27064920

It’s a doddle with UKIPVPN.COM.
I watched the Beeb on my android phone today, using this.

Thanks for all the links and tips to see it live. I hope to make that happen.

I love that all the technology makes it possible for the rank & file who can’t attend these events to see what they are like while they are running. And it definitely forms a connection with the event.

Clark’s dressage test is up on YouTube!

Wonderful Test! I love Glen he looks like such a nice sort.
the course looks big and bold as usual. Fingers crossed that it does not rain over night, Can’t wait to see tomorrow!

For the fans of Natalie Blundell

I have Expat Shield but the BBC feed wont play :frowning: GAH!

The Cross Country is very, very slippery. A lot of people have withdrawn or have retired during the XC! And it’s only been going for an hour!!!

It worked beautifully for me for the first hour and then was down for about 20 (very frustrating!) minutes. It just came back up again, in time to see Peter Atkins retire :frowning:

It’s not working for me to watch. :frowning:

TV service has been down in the UK too - if you’re getting no service - it’s because it’s been down. Try again now as it’s up and running.

Clark first horse retired. Reason not obvious as he was going really well. He didn’t seem to present to a fence - just ran past it and retired. Maybe he could feel something and pulled - was jumping so well though.

Henny really smacked himself on a large spread fence and hten stopped at a really simple brush. Was represented and jacked it in - so suspect he’s very sore after landing on the parallel.

Watching on FEI TV and I swear one of the cameramen has been tippling to keep himself warm - is giving me a headache… Tim Price (Ringwood Skyboy) NZ is in the lead and the Frenchman, Pascal Leroy, is in second. Lots of refusals (mostly due to slipping) and withdrawals. Some very smart withdrawals (such as Clark’s) including Andrew Nicholson (Quimby), and Frances Whittington - who was in third after Dressage. His horse started to look tired at the 6/7 minute marker, and, while they didn’t have any problems, Frances decided it wasn’t worth continuing when the horse felt tired. GREAT HORSEMANSHIP!! I tip my hat to him!!

I’m not sure that many have been due to slipping. Many have just been the course design which is encouraging bold riding but really accurate riding and some are just glancing off/missing their lines.

Clearly a couple have been - and I’d be really interested in why Clark pulled up on his first horse- he never seemed to even try and present at that second part in Huntsmans. Looked like he was cruising and set for a great clear.

The BBC “Live” click-on has disappeared for me. Will keep messing with it.

Just checked in to look at the results so far …
http://www.badminton-horse.co.uk/index.php/cross-country-results-2014/

… at first I thought “oh 5 have gone clear already” in surprise … but then I saw the E’s, R’s and W’s. Oh dear. Mark Todd an E? Some of the bigger horse names already out of it.

Is there a chance the course will improve/dry during the day, better rounds later on? I’ll be sick if Clark doesn’t at least get a chance at a good run on LG.

p.s Thanks very much for the comments from those who can see! Keep em coming!

Toddy fell.
Our service has just gone down again - BBC live is completely screwed today!

Opps - bakc now - try again now - Quick -before it goes again!

Tough run so far, no doubt the sticky conditions (lots of rain overnight reported) are contributing.

By my math, currently 21 have started and 10 have completed. Tim Price has the fastest time to date, 11.6 penalties.

I must say I’m enjoying listening to the live radio feed. I have no doubt that all of the XC videos will be available on their website very quickly - I think last year they started putting up individual XC videos up before XC even finished.

I thought it was just Burghley that did that, if Badminton does it too that would be brilliant! I’ve given up trying to watch, BBC Sport is completely messed up today so have barely seen any action.

Little Aussie grey horse just had a stop. Very simple stop but then tried to go left to get around the fence and fell in the ditch! Horse and rider absolutely fine but sadly eliminated even though it wasn’t really a course related fall…

Yep, radio is working - commentary is a little errrrm ‘amateur’ shall we say? Like they don’t know the names of the fences or most of the horses and riders.

For clarity there seem to be two aussie grey horses! The second one ‘Ice Age’ is on course now. It was a girl called Natalie that fell.

Second grey aussie horse also missed their jerk at the vicarage vee but routed over the slow route so continuing on.

Guess there aren’t too many big wet ditches in Oz?!
