Topspin looked exhausted finishing.
looked exhausted several fences before the finish
thank god for the pins, David’s horse’s fall could have been very bad had the jump not collapsed.
He was not having the best day, a few dodgy distances before then too.
Even just reading the EN commentary, I’m thankful for the relatively uneventful Kentucky XC two weeks ago 🫣
Badminton 2022 was pretty awful with the falls by Tom Mcewen and Toledo and Nicola Wilson. I seriously considered never watching again after that day. Hoping for a non traumatic day today.
I have trouble with that too. I love it so much, but then I stress myself out and can’t watch.
interesting commentary re the French horse going down on her belly in the water. they said if the GJ considers it to be a fall, they will quickly stop the horse.
this was so different from the GER rider most of us were pretty upset with after a belly flop in Kentucky. The french rider today, walked several steps, then trotted a bit, before cantering on.
If you can’t watch you can listen free; https://www.badminton-horse.co.uk/badminton-radio/
If you find John Kyle annoying; The radio folks must be watching a monitor - so you could probably watch TV with sound off and listen to the radio commentary.
Emily King having a lovely round!
That Piglet!
Ooh and now Colorado Blue! I love a big grey Irish horse
sad to see Dublin so tired at the finish, but so far I think that was only the second horse that did not look fit and relatively fresh at the end.
Is that the pair that won a 5* last year and Austin said he always knew the horse was good enough and deserved to win a 5*, but that he, the rider had considered giving the ride to someone else, bc Austin did not think he was good enough to give the horse the win he deserved?
My memory is that this was the first big horse Austin has been able to keep; he always had to sell them on before to balance the books.
Yes, they won at Maryland
Really hope Ros’ 15 doesn’t stay. Walter clearly jumped the corner and her toe took the flag.
Treworra, wow! Same sire as Colorado Blue.
Dang I just tuned in and have seen 3 horse/rider falls already
Austin’s one of the best xc riders but dressage has been his weak phase. He’s been working with Carl Hester this last year. Fingers all crossed for them tomorrow, would love to see him on the podium here.
