Has anyone seen where you can buy Baker Plaid fabric by the yard or bolt? I’m finishing my barn lounge and wanted to do some projects with it.

Close! My Baker stuff doesn’t have the red stripe.
Since it’s very likely a proprietary pattern, and copyrighted, I doubt you could buy the fabric anywhere. You might, however, try contacting Baker and ask if they would make you up some curtains and how much they would charge for such custom items. If they even sell that much yardage. I mean, what would prevent customers from using that fabric to make up their own products? Gross breach of copyright.
There are products like this though so I’m not sure about that whole gross breach of copyright thing. Do the own the plaid or did they pick the plaid and use it for their blanket company? There’s a lot of history to plaids.
Neither of those is the Baker plaid.
And neither of those is a bolt of fabric for sale by the yard.
Sure, you could cut up the duvet cover and make tack room curtains of it.
But it’s not the Baker plaid.
Jesus. I was giving examples of craft projects using baker plaid or something very close to it. Those people purchased fabric by the yard. That is what I am looking for. Also, I’m not making curtains. Why on earth I’d cut up a $400 Duvet I have no idea. I understand you are entirely against my doing any sort of craft project with Baker fabric. Thanks.
Mood Fabric might have something that would be pretty close? IIRC you can contact them and if you’ve got a picture of the plaid they might have something that would work as a close match. Maybe even in a better fabric for things like curtains etc if that’s what you were wanting.
I’d contact the company if you want their exact plaid. They do make a ton of products like blankets and such so they may already have exactly what you are looking for.
I’ve seen a craft projects where people turned their old baker coolers into pillows and upholster chairs and such.
According to a quick google search, the baker plaid is based off of clan baker tartan. You may be able to buy that in bolts.
Here’s some results I found
Fabric
An area rug
Fleece
I found it once a long time ago and used to have it bookmarked but can’t seem to find it
I found wallpaper which would be amazing but it’s discontinued
I second or third the suggestion to contact the company directly. Baker Blankets are now owned by Jack’s. If you go to bakerblanket.com, there’s a contact form. I believe from a blog from Farmhouse Tack, the person you want to talk with is Dede (don’t have a last name).
What you’re asking for are product/ brand extensions. I never thought about curtains but those could be stunning. IMO the wallpaper might be visually overpowering, but maybe for
a small place or accent wall. My local Dover has a Baker fabric bench, so it has been done at least once.
Now, that I’m thinking about it, I’d like Baker plaid stall drapes.
If the company isn’t interested in adding new products that are outside their core product lines, it’s understandable. Success in one market doesn’t always equal success in another market.
As an alternative for your tack room curtains, you could use standard black or beige curtains and keep your eyes out for an old Baker sheet to repurpose for tie backs and accents. I’ve seen some custom horse products with Baker piping which is quite nice.
You could also buy a Baker rain cover - that’s 90" x 96" of a Baker nylon waterproof fabric and make curtains from that.
Just chiming in that I LOVE that idea for your lounge! Please post pics when you’re finished, I think it’s going to look so cute
She specifically said she was NOT doing curtains.
Nope, not curtains. That was one poster who was attacking me for breech of copyright. Lol. People get so riled up. I found Etsy shop that said they bought it by the bolt and assumed it was a clan plaid and not a design specifically owned by a company. My Dover had it as wallpaper for God’s sake.
No pics of my lounge for fear someone will call the police
I’m totally donating my pony baker to you that he destroyed (a-hole).
Doesn’t The Clothes Horse do custom Baker blankets? Why not contact them, maybe they could help you or make your items for you. At least it would be the real Baker fabric, not a knockoff.
I know there is someone who posts regularly on here who also works for The Clothes Horse, but I can’t remember her name, I think she might be a pony breeder?
Even if you love Baker plaid… I feel like curtains or full upholstering or anything like that is going to be a LOT OF PLAID Maybe trimming in Baker patter plaid would be less… “plaid forward”
anyway?
Slight tangent, but I know there was somebody on Facebook who used to make very cool handbags from old recycled Baker blankets and leather goods. They were absolutely adorable.
Not that that’s at all helpful to the OP. It’s just funny how we have such a knee-jerk reaction to Baker plaid in almost any context. Lol.
The OP said no curtains already.
I have seen those bags. They are lovely. Expensive but just lovely.
Edit because currents and curtains are not the same thing, no matter what my fingers typed.
