Hello my horse banged her leg on something in turnout and had a small wound but now it has a cold splint on the outside of her cannon bone she was never lame and it’s gone down some but I am hoping it will go away completely has anyone else had this? Or do people recommend splintex, surpass, other - i did buy some near IR light boots as well and have BOT quick wraps if someone thinks those could help. Or do I just have to live with this blemish now thanks
Oddly enough two of my horses did this exact thing over the last year. Both were and still are sound, they’re just blemishes. The gelding wacked his hard enough that the outside of the leg had some good swelling for over a week, no heat. Once the swelling went down we could see the splint. That was about 5 months ago and it has almost disappeared.
The mare popped a splint on the outside of her front left about a month ago. I’m hoping it will get smaller over time. The one she popped on the inside as a 2yo disappeared/remodeled after a few years.
Thank you for your response this gives me hope it will reabsorb … I am so bummed looking at it!!
Any one else with any experience - did yours reabsorb and if so over how long. I am going to X-ray it based on other forums but horse continues to be 100% sound on it and no reaction to any poking and pressing. Thanks!
