Barbaro ~ America's Horse

Such sad news. I think they did the right thing all along, but I was so hoping he’d beat the odds. But oh, how painfully true this is:

‘The good stuff takes a long time, and the bad goes fast,’

It really is nice how the story affected people who aren’t even into horses. My mom cried when she heard about it, and she’s not a horse person, and she said the news anchors looked upset when they made the announcement.

RIP Barbaro. :frowning:

RIP, Barbaro.

Thanks to all for the updates; it was one hell of a ride.

I had a feeling that this was coming, but I cried anyway.
Thank you, Barbaro for your bravery and for your huge heart.
Thank you Dr. Richardson and all of the staff at New Bolton for all you did for this wonderful horse. I know this must have been incredibly hard for all of you.
Thank you Mr and Mrs Jackson for being such responsible and loving owners.
Thank you VirginiaBred, for your consistent updates. I feel like I know you.
My dog is licking the tears from my face.

Dearest Bobby, RIP my friend! You taught us so much and have been such a wonderful inspiration to all of us! May you run free atlast in the great green pastures above and know that you ARE a legend, never to be forgotten.

With much love and admiration,
Amy, Bugs and Frodo

God Speed Beautiful Boy.
My heartfelt condolences to all who loved him, and who tried so hard to save him.

I still have my winning derby ticket.

I’m so sorry…

I pray that his owners find peace in the fact that the battle is over and their boy has gone home. He was greatly loved and so many people learned so much from him and his story. They have much to be proud of, including knowing when to let him go. Godspeed…

What a horrible, inconsiderate and unkind way to respond when someone loses a horse.

You are–without a doubt–one of the biggest jerks on this forum and that is really saying something.

I just got my tax information sheet from Churchill. And I now realize I forgot to include it on my tax return. A little laughing through the tears.

TOO SIMPLE, you are just incredible, have you no EMPATHY for ANYONE?

Godspeed to a Legendary Champion. He will never ever be forgotten. He touched so many people with his will to live.

Now he is running like the champion he is again with all the champions that have passed over like him.

Condolences to the owners and everyone who knew and worked with this magnificent animal.

It’s so sad these guys are so fragile… and have such a hard time recovering after such a tragic injury. Makes you really appreciate every moment we are lucky enough to experience with them. I am going to hug my horses now… sniff… :frowning:

Godspeed, Barbaro. Your legacy will not only be that of a great racehorse but of how many hearts you have touched with your courage. My sincerest condolences to all those who cared for him at New Bolton and especially to the Jackson’s, M. Matz & Edgar Prado.

On wings of angels, Bobby! Go, good boy!

 There are no words…

Don’t make this about someone who obviously doesn’t have the intellect or compassion to matter in this… ignore her.

It’s disrespectful to Bobby and all that loved him to even give TSr a comment back on this blatant ignorance. TS doesn’t deserve the attention (and that’s all she wants here) tsk tsk.

La Gringa, you said it just BEAUTIFULLY!

I had a small family emergency this morning and so am just now catching up on the web and news and found out about poor Barbaro.

May that wonderful and valiant horse rest in peace and may all who struggled to ease his pain and help him heal also find solace and peace.

I was sad to hear of his initial injury and I am saddened by his passing. Truly a Thorobred with great heart. My best to all involved in his care.

My First thoughts were the people here on this board

When I heard, my first thoughts were the people here on this board who identified as Team Barbaro and kept the hope of a great horse alive.

My deepest heart felt sympathies to you all - You were as valiant as the great horse!

Thanks for everything, VB. It’s been a long time. I was afraid that this day would come. I am soo sorry that it actually did. Sleep gently, Bobby. Enjoy the grass, play in the warm sunshine, drink in the Everlasting Fountain. If ever a horse earned his rest, you did. I can’t see to type because of the tears.

Irishannie - I agree completely!

VB is there a place to send our thoughts and prayers to the Jacksons and NB?

And a huge THANK YOU to you and Alex for all of the updates. You keep us in the loop and offered a vision of the people around the horse.

RIP Barbaro
