Barn Bag Vitamin/Mineral Supplement

Hi All! Is there a reason Barn Bag isn’t more popular/recommended on this board? Thanks, NH

There might be other reasons as well…but it is more expensive per day than California Trace, Vermont Blend, SmartPak’s multivitamin, and most Ration Balancers.

Thank you!

An 85gm serving provides only 35mg copper - almost every forage and ration balancer provide more than that.

85gm provides 1.7gm lysine and less than 1gm magnesium - why bother? You can use many other forage balancers with more trace minerals and either the same, or less than, or a lot more lysine/magnesium, and for sure ration balancers will provide more (9/10gm on average)

those are just 2 examples, but you get the idea.

Smart Pack has the 11lb bag for $1.25/serving, which is the 85gm serving size most 1000-1100lb horse would be getting

Most ration balancers are in the $.60-.70/serving range (of 1lb, which is the min for a 1000-1100lb horse)

Vermont Blend is right about $1/serving, and has a lot more of the things more horses need more of - copper, zinc, magnesium, amino acids.

BB is like most every typical v/m supplement, providing a lot of things, but not a lot of any of them, but costs a lot more than many others of similar GA

Thank you.
