Barn Cats love horse fat supplement

I have both of my older horses on the Triple Crown Omega Plus 25% fat supplement.

The barn cats stalk me when I fill feed bags for the week. “Can we help you clean up what you’ve dropped? Oh, you made this bag especially for me!!!”

And when I feed my senior horses, the barn cats eat the fat supplement out of the feed bowl with them.

Is there any reason to shoo them away?

My one barn cat LOVES the Actiflex 4000 liquid that I give the horses…he is absurd about it…he has the best-lubricated joints on the farm!!

Our barn cats love eating the cold-formed pellets out of the Omoline 200, as well as wet beet pulp shreds.

one of my corgis loves Ultium and Strategy…he’s the clean up crew at feeding time.

One of our barn cats is extremely enthusiastic about the oil I fed last year. So much so that he’d come running as soon as I walked into the feed room, and pester me till I was done serving the oil and left him the measuring cup to lick.

Good news for the horse whose weight was an issue last year – she is no longer in need of oil. Bad news for poor Albacore kitty. He still hangs around, ever hopeful. His brother Oreo will eat from the horse pans before I serve them but Albacore is still waiting for SOMEONE to require that yummy oil!

Samr thing happening here! I feed Equijewel and one of my cats is all over it. This year is the first time I’ve ever seen them eat it-he will gorge himself if I let him.

I had a barn cat that loved the canola oil too. Gave her a very soft, shiney coat for an outdoor kitty, so a wee capful was shared with her each evening. Sure do miss that kitty, tho.

Mine LOVES rice bran, and most of mine love oil too. You just have to be careful about too much, and “too much” isn’t very much with kitties.

When I learned mine loved the rice bran, to the point she’d be up on the garbage cans when I went to feed, I had to research to see what problems might arise: heart problems if fed too much. I never found what “too much” was, but I did limit her to a very large pinch of it 4-5 days a week.
