This applies anywhere in life. I can’t tell you how often somebody breaks something at work or is just the one to discover that it isn’t working… and they just walk away and leave it to be the next person’s problem. Sometimes somebody will be like oh yeah that hasn’t been working right for days or weeks. Did you report it to IT or engineering? Of course not
Some workplaces may have a punitive attitude to reporting breakage. Or causing it. Or employees may not expect it to get fixed. Or the barn manager might take it as nagging and complaining. Workers or boarders can have these experiences elsewhere and end up shy of reporting things.

If you or your horse broke something at the barn … would you personally see that it was fixed or leave it and hope the BO dealt with it?
Always. I tell the BO and then if I (or DH) can fix it we will.
