Just saw this. Terrible.
That’s terrible.
Reading some comments on Facebook it looks like it was Roberts’ QHs (Roberts of WEC?).
This is what the attached article says. I don’t know if that is the Roberts you are talking about.
The article has been updated since I posted it, originally it just said the 6000 block of NW 118th Street & didn’t specify the barn.
2003 Article: https://www.ocala.com/story/news/2003/01/01/a-bright-future/31271675007/
Roberts’ Quarter Horse Farm is the 1,100-acre home of Larry and Mary Roberts, complete with a 30,000-plus square-foot home, 450 horses, and a few stray miniature donkeys, mules and Galapagos turtles. Larry Roberts made his fortune in truck freight with his R & L Carriers empire, and is also the owner/developer of the upper-crust Golden Ocala Golf & Country Club.

Based on names & info, looks like Roberts Quarterhorse Farm is the same Roberts family that owns WEC & other farms. The 2003 article said that the Quarterhorse farm had 450 horses. I am not sure if that is still true, but wow!
(I’m just an outsider and sharing information that I’ve found)
That was my thought, he does raise QHs and has had a farm in Ocala for many years…it is foaling season and I hope all the broodies and babies were out last night regardless of who owned them but there was a steep temp drop and a few lingering showers yesterday evening.
Sounds like the same family, maybe brother or still in late fathers name or something but Robbie was/is heavily involved with R&L trucking, it is/was a family business…maybe this was the family farm south?
That’s an enormous place that I used to pass regularly between my trainer’s farm and HITS. At least I’m assuming it’s the same one!
It is the same Roberts, they’re longtime QH pleasure breeders, probably best known as the breeders of RL Best of Sudden. Absolutely devastating, I know Mary had really expanded and acquired some phenomenal broodmares in the last few years, but I do not know who were potentially lost.
