Barn For Rent Needed Near Chadds Ford, PA

Does anyone know of a barn for rent near Garnet Valley or Chadds Ford for a small group of ladies? Very sweet group of people and we can do all the work. We take great care of our animals.

What’s your budget, how many stalls and facility needs? Are you looking for stalls or the whole barn?

We are willing to do anything that is close to our house with any budget. We just want our horses close and not all the way out in Unionville or Kennett.

This is going to sound completely crazy, but a friend of mine here in middle TN had really good luck driving around and placing letters in the mailboxes of properties with apparent horse facilities that were not being used. She placed several letters explaining she was looking for a barn to rent for her own horses and possibly a few boarders. I believe she had multiple people respond and ended up with a fabulous facility complete with an indoor.

I’m originally from nearby Chadds Ford and still visit the area regularly. It’s a similar demographic to the area my friend was searching in here: upscale farms and farmettes swallowed up by suburbia and urban sprawl. Lots of old money horse farms with land sitting vacant as they’ve been fragmented by development or purchased by non-horse people with money as the horsemen shifted slightly west into Chester County. A lot of property owners might not even think to advertise the barn to rent, but would appreciate the opportunity for the land to be used and maintained by someone else.

It is a little farther north than are looking but you might want check with Thornbury Farm. There is an ad on Equine Marketer for boarding in Glen Mills.

They do major group turnout there but I’m sure Penny Parker gives excellent care there.

Great idea! Now if I could just find a remaining farm! Lol. Everything is so built up now here.

I remember seeing some horse-type properties with no horses driving down Heyburn RD near Painters Crossing and Stoney Bank RD/Glen Mills RD/Cheyney RD area down in Glen Mills earlier this year. I was surprised how much open land there still was on some of the backroads. Of course, that’s not any sort of guarantee you’ll find anything!

Having lived in that area most of my life…part of the problem is zoning…while you might find the land, it may no longer be zoned for horses…Plus having ride off to trails is dwindling…Feed stores are a good source and realtor who may know where a farm is that’s not being subdivided…The second issue is ALOT of people are concerned about liability and insurance…Having proof you can provide you own liability insurance might help…

There is a horse boarding in PA Facebook group you might try. I see barns for lease there sometimes.

Also, try posting in the Chester county riders FB group. Someone there might know of something.

Good luck!

Small warning, don’t put letters in mailboxes :). On them, tucked between the box and the flag, or rubber-banded, but not in.
