Barn in Powder Springs GA

Hi friends!

I am making the the move from MI to Powder Springs GA and was wondering if anyone could reccomend Hunter/Jumper barns. Doesn’t need to necasarrily be a big show barn. Would like to stay under $700. Main priority is a comfortable place where the horses are well cared for!

Thanks for the help

Post on off topic forum here.

I think you mean Off Course - that will pick up a wider range of people but is still horse related! To the OP, you are likely going to have to broaden your search beyond h/j barns - finding a true hunter/jumper barn for less than $700/month will be extremely difficult in the metro Atlanta area. If you post on Off Course, you might pick up a wider variety of suggestions.

I think you may have been luck on the Facebook groups. This one may be a good place to start - [h=1]NORTH GA EQUINE TACK/FARM EXCHANGE[/h] : https://www.facebook.com/groups/286533571412874/

Or this one: [h=1]North Georgia Equine Tack and Apparel[/h] https://www.facebook.com/groups/408520042619196/

I moved here from WI 20 years ago and was shocked at the boarding prices. It is definitely a lot higher than the midwest. I think you will be able to find a barn in the area, but it likely won’t be a H/J barn. The only one I can even think of in that area is West Creek (Matthew LeMaster) and it was $1250 when I was there over 2 years ago for the training package. I think they had some board only options but you would need to check. https://www.westcreekstables.com

I had a friend who moved to West Creek from Moonstruck Stables. She liked it there but they didn’t do A-shows and it was a smaller barn. You might check them out.

Good luck and welcome to Atlanta!

I recently moved barns and West Creek was one of the ones I checked out, they do not offer any board-only options at this point. The board pricing includes lessons but not rides and is slightly less than $1250, but I can’t recall the exact number offhand!.

Thank you for the updated details! I have a friend who just moved from there back to CA and she may have been their last board only person (was likely grandfathered in).

Can you think of any other barns out there? There is GB but that is definitely more natural horsemanship/pleasure/western crowd.

Nicole Mctaggert/Old School Equestrian is a darling person but she is out by Douglasville I think, which may be too far.

Everyone else I can think of is either too far south or north.

PMing you

I’m not that familiar with the western/NW suburban areas and what’s out there, and I was only looking at show barns in my search, so I’m afraid I’m not much help!
