What do people think of Barnes Tack Room saddles? I’m a bit skeptical since they only come in a medium tree and have fairly large panels. Also, the only people who seem to be endorsing them are younger equestrians on social media. Thoughts?
I’ve never heard of them, but their website is poorly organized and a lot of the pictures are done in poor light. If they are overlooking details like that, what else are they missing? If I had to guess, the craftsmanship will be poor.
Also, in discussing their panels they state: “These panels are made with wool. In these panels, there are no protrusions in any area, rather the force of a mounted rider will be distributed in a uniform way across the surface of the panel.” But that whole pressure distribution phenomenon they are describing comes from foam. Wool can only transfer pressure down. And for that reason, brands who use wool typically offer lots of tree sizes.
This all has me thinking of knock off tack from Pakistan and I would steer clear. For $3,600 you can probably find something nicer.
For sure you can find a nice Pessoa pro saddle with a lifetime tree warranty (not 4 yrs), made with sophisticated technology, that you know what you’re getting. There are plenty of other brands and used high end saddles in that price range too.
