Barns in New Hampshire

Does anyone have any suggestions on hunter jumper barns in New Hampshire, close to Portsmouth or Dover? We are moving there and I have one horse to take with me. I am looking for an indoor for all the snow. I prefer pasture board but (excuse the Southerner) am not sure if they do that over winter that far north? I would like to take lessons and do some shows, schooling maybe some rated, this year. I don’t have any idea of what boarding costs up there. The websites I found don’t list pricing. I would ideally like to school over jumps outside of lessons but I know that might not be possible. I do not mind low key barns as long as they allow a good coach to come in to teach.

Also looking for a job if anyone knows anything! I can’t seem to find many trainer/instructor listings online. I’m regrettably leaving the best job ever where I currently am.

Are you looking specifically for Hunter/Jumper barns? There are several eventing barns in that area, and if turnout is important to you, that may be the way to go.

For H/J Senator Bell is in Chester - http://www.senatorbellfarm.com

For eventing look at Green Acres in Madbury - www.greenacresstables.com, and Coyote Springs in Lee - http://www.coyotespringfarm.com/Coyote_Spring_Farm/index.html

Board in the Seacoast area will generally be at least $600/month, and can be significantly higher if you’re looking for a nice indoor and lots of turnout. You can find slightly lower rates going North to Maine, or West toward Manchester.

There’s a local board www.equinesite.com with classifieds.

Thanks! Yes, turnout is important to me. I am willing to look at eventing barns. I cross train but only show jumpers now.

I live on the Seacoast and board my horse with Over the Oxer in Rye, New Hampshire. It is a hunter/jumper barn and we go to a variety of shows - local to A rated. Nice turnout, nice rings including indoor and great care. www.overtheoxer.com

Whishmaker Stables in Rollinsford, http://www.whishmakerstables.com/

You may also want to look at the trainer listing for the NHHJA. Many of them will have boarding as well - http://www.nhhja.com/trainers.html

Kinney Hill Farm in South Hampton, NH has 2 open stalls. No onsite trainer but many local ones that come in, it is a small barn, good size indoor with brand new state of the art footing, all day (weather permitting) grass individual turnout. The owner (my mom) events, there are tons of trails, and it is 5min from 95 making it very easy to go to and from anywhere on the seacoast. PM me if you want more details, and welcome to the granite state!

I’m in NH and board in Dover. I sent you a PM. : )
