Barns in Virginia Beach

Hey guys! I’ve recently moved to the Virginia Beach area and I am looking for an eventing or dressage barn to board my horse at. She’s currently a stall horse, and if I could find something in my price range, I’d like to keep her in a stall. However, I know board is more expensive than where I am coming from. We aren’t looking to show, but I’d like to have access to a decent trainer. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

It will be easier for you to find a dressage barn than an eventing barn. Hampton Roads is eventing no-mans land. There are a few, but it’s not like Central VA where you throw a rock and find a great eventing barn. Salli Gear out near Princess Ann Farms does eventing, Tina Bodnar out in Chesapeake has a small barn, but usually there is a waiting list for her. Kate Mason is out in Suffolk, but that can be a bit of drive from Virginia Beach depending on where you live. There are quite a few dressage barns but most are out in Pungo (southern part of Virginia Beach) , out in Chesapeake or out in Suffolk. So really it depends on the amount of drive time you are willing to commit to and what exactly you are looking for as far care goes for your horse.

You may want to talk to Fair-winds farm in Va Beach (Knotts Island). Chris is the best, and lots of contacts with people in the dressage and eventing world.
