What is the scene like there? Are there barns with quality lessons? Show barns? What is the closest show facility?
Not a huge horse culture there, but there’s a few barns. Most people I knew either boarded in the Pooler/Metter area (no one wants to live in Savannah, they work there and commute in from Pooler), or they boarded in SC. It’s been a while but there’s Coastal Hunter Circuit did local level (mostly 2’6” and under) shows at barns and fairgrounds in Statesboro area and SC, but if you’re looking for something a little more competitive you’re looking at hauling to Tryon, Ocala, or Atlanta.
My biggest issue living and boarding in Statesboro was you’re looking at 4 hours hauling at least to show, but the local and A circuit in Atlanta (Wills Park, GIHP, Chatt Hills, and now Poplar Place) is so good it’s worth it.

I went to college in Savannah for awhile. I didn’t have a horse at the time, but a friend did and boarded over in SC. She kept her horses at Rose Du Equestrian Center; I visited with her and liked it! Most people I knew kept the horses boarded 30+ minutes from Savannah due to the costs and lack of pasture.
