Barns on the Main Line in PA

Hi! I am a student at Villanova University and I am looking for a barn on the Main Line/reasonably near school. I tried to look around a little bit and have heard of Diane Little, Kim Buzby, Mainline Sporthorses, Callan Solem, etc. but could not find a ton of info about most of them and was looking for any opinions or suggestions. I have one horse and have shown up to 1.25m. Open to hunters and/or jumpers and ideally would be looking for board under 1k per month.TIA!

I have heard that Great Scott Farm is nice.
One of the girls that works at my trainers does jumpers and boards at Shannondell Farm.
I personally do not care for John Muldoon at Reinbow’s End but many people like him.

Diane and most other people have headed to FL for the winter. How far are you willing to travel? Do you want to be in a program or would you prefer a boarding barn where you manage your own horse and either ship out to lessons or have someone come to you? If I know what your wish list is I can help.

Maybe ask the IHSA team where they would recommend? IIRC they lesson at Great Scott Farm.

Not sure about the others, but Callan does not have clients. That part of the business ended a few years ago. Board would also be above your budget anyway. But, the area has lots of places to chose from so I’m sure you won’t have a problem finding something suitable.

Thank you so much! I am not looking to move my horse immediately so I can definitely wait until people get back from Fl. I am willing to travel up to 45 minutes each way and would like to have my horse in a program, not necessarily with grooms and training rides, etc., but at least basic care etc. as I do not have the time to do it myself. For that reason I also feel like it would be better to have a trainer on site.

Hi!

This is Lindsay Langan, the head coach of the Villanova Equestrian Team. I am also the owner/trainer of Great Scott Farm, in Malvern, PA. I am currently in Wellington with my clients but am returning to Pennsylvania on Monday evening as the team starts their spring semester lessons this coming week.

I am happy to give you some professional references and client references outside of the team, and can also provide some show records of horses in my program for you to ascertain whether or not my program is the right one for you and your horse. I also invite you to check out our website and social media pages to see what type of program we run.

Please give me a call or text at 610-256-2119 or send me a Facebook message via the Great Scott Farm page. I am available to give you a tour of the facility next week as well.

Best,

Lindsay
