Baroque bridles/unique bridles for costume

Thinking about Halloween costumes, I want to see if I can recreate Catherin the Great. To pay homage to a badass woman & equestrian, plus it seems like a relatively straight forward costume.

So I’m thinking of getting a fun fancy bridle, preferably black leather with lots of gold. Or just a bling-ed out browband/nose band will work as well. Anyone know of any tack stores that would carry such? My google skills have failed me, I also feel like these types of places might not have a strong web presence.

As a last resort I will probably just wrap my bridle in gold fabric, but I thought a fancy bridle would be fun to have for future costumes as well

For fun here’s my inspiration:

You can order some fancy Baroque gear direct from Portugal and Spain where its traditional gear on Iberian horses. You may be able to find North American distributors. I’d do search terms with Iberian or Lusitano or Portuguese tack.

These folks, HippoGriff in Quebec, were posting on my FB feed for a while. There are also lots of medieval style artisans out there for renaissance faire cosplay. All this is likely too expensive for a Halloween costume but you might get some style ideas and maybe find secondhand gear around.

You might check out JoAnn’s or Amazon or whatever for camel fringe tassel, or beaded tassel trims. You could really bling out your reins and headstall.

Thanks everyone!

I finally found a tack store, too late for this Halloween but maybe next year! Commenting for the next person searching: https://elsuenoespanol.com/
