Does anyone know of any makers who sell baroque fit dressage saddles? My horse does not have a prominant wither and has a wide back and large shoulders.
Hulsebos’s Dynamic 3 I believe is a model for baroque horses
Consider looking into a Zaldi saddle. A Spanish firm, makes good saddles and obviously very used to Iberian shapes
Either measure your horse’s back or have it measured. Try to determine if your horse is a hoop tree candidate, that will help narrow your choices.
If memory serves some popular hoop tree options are Duett, Albion, Lovatt & Ricketts, Thornhill, thorowgood, and Prestige.
Black Country also makes hoop tree saddles that can accommodate that build quite well.
Many Baroque horses do well in a hoop tree but not all. Furthermore, their longitudinal shape varies though most have some curve. I would recommend working with a fitter or doing tracings and conformation shots to determine more specifically what your horse needs.
The Frank Baines Pirouette, Jeffries Liberty or XP, and several models by Black Country and Harry Dabbs, depending on the specific shape of the horse. I also recently worked on a saddle from the Friesian Marketplace that was intriguing.
