Barrel racing-- NYC Area?

After close to 20 years riding jumpers, I took a barrel racing lesson this past weekend while in Wyoming, and needless to say, I loved it. I live full-time in NYC, and would love to take some more lessons. Would love to spend around an hour (or less) driving each way, and obviously need somewhere that has some lesson horses. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Maybe search the National Barrel Horse Association’s web site to see what is in your area. Also check out some of the barrel racing forums, Barrel Horse World, eBarrel racing etc.

I agree with Js. NBHA is a great resource. New York has it’s own NBHA website, so you might try that. The district directors may be able to help you find a trainer. Also try the International Barrel Racing Association.

I am a member at BHW and I’ll tell you it’s a great resource. Lots of people there willing to help. =)

Oops, double post. Sorry!

There a many barrel racers in the Millbrook NY area. One I can think of is Clear Brook farm, Doreen? I think. I know they go to all the events ( virginia, georgia), and many local shows

When I lived in New Jersey I went team penning at this barn and I think they have some boarders and possibly a trainer who does gaming as well http://www.westmilfordequestrian.net/
