I’ve been looking for a new barrel saddle and I wanted someone else’s opinion. I don’t want to spend too much and at the same time I don’t want a bad quality/cheaply made saddle. I would like something similar to a Lynn Mckenzie. I’m not a big fan of the Corriente saddles and I love my Dakota. Just looking for a good deal because my saddle is too big, I need a 13.5 inch seat instead of a 14.
Well, it kind of depends what is going to fit your horse! (And fit you too)
so are you currently riding in a Dakota saddle then? Or a Lynn McKenzie?
check the tack for sale ads on barrelhorseworld, you can find those very saddles used for sale in your size
I am currently riding in a Dakota saddle, but I would like to have something similar to a Lynn McKenzie because of the rigging
LM saddles are nice saddles but they do tend to have more flare and that doesn’t fit all horses. (A LM doesn’t fit either of my horses.)
Is there a tack shop near you that you can try on saddles? Obviously you know what seat size you want, but the harder part will be making sure it fits your horse. You won’t know if a saddle fits until you try it on your horse.
I live in Augusta, GA and there are no western saddle shops anywhere close to me, sadly. Thank you for letting me know about the LM saddles.
There’s several NBHA super shows that come to Perry later in the year. I’m sure there are saddle vendors that set up shop for the event.
