BatCoach Home for Wayward Kitties New (temp) Resident

OK CoTH, start jingling those curb chains to get this kitty into a home for Christmas!

He appeared a few days before Thanksgiving. At first I assumed he was someone’s pet who had just gotten out and was looking for a handout. He was too friendly (almost pushy for attention) to be a ‘feral’ and was in good weight. He seemed confused about how to interact with the colony cats and was not street savvy. I figured he would be on his way to wherever he came from in a few days. Nope.

We get plenty of cats just passing through here, so I waited a few days and kept an eye on him. He had a big personality and is very vocal - all of which might be symptoms of him being an intact male. But as the days passed it was clear that he was not a street cat -the colony cats rejected him so he found a solo hiding spot between my trash bins and the hedge. After about 10 days he was acting depressed and spent most of his time hiding. It was clear then that the cat distribution system gifted me with another wayward soul - so I posted him in found pets, and took him into a vet and sure enough - no chip.

I found rescue backing for him, so he is now recovering from his neuter surgery. He is now fixed, vaxed, flea treated and living in my downstairs bathroom. I paid extra for a snap test, and he unfortunately is FIV+, which is disclosed on his adoption bio. Vet thinks he is about 3. Poor guy is just SO shut down - it will take some time for him to come out of his shell. He has the BIGGEST, blockiest tom- cat head ever. He did purr last night while I was brushing him, so I’m sure he will come around eventually.

Tell Santa Claws that my Christmas Wish is that there is someone out there who wants a fluffy, silky long hair boy who is fine with a FIV+ situation. :crossed_fingers: :santa:

Oh my LAWD is he handsome. I picked up a street cat that looked just like this in SC 12 years ago. I had to do a double take, but this one is still in my house. :joy:

Jingling for a happy adoption and as always thank you for looking out for the kitties. Every cat deserves a home.

Jingling for this handsome boy to find a great place to land.

I’ll take him if he can find a ride north. He would look spectacular in rhinestones. Or plaid. He could easily be a plaid man.

YES!
He does look like a plaid man.

Many jingles!

I hope you’ve set the COTH Kitty Underground Railroad in motion!
IIRC, you’re in NorCal? West Coast?
I’m solid Midwest, do if no use

C’mon, Enablers!
Send Plaidboy to @BrownDerby !
Nicodemus needs a buddy :smirk_cat:

I’m in for a dribble of transport funds to get Nic a new brother by any means necessary!

Thank you guys, you are very sweet. Nic crossed the bridge this summer. He had some residual issues from his early life that he just could not overcome. Poor little guy would soar and then plummet, and it got bad. All the king’s horses.

I’m sorry, @BrownDerby. You and @BatCoach gave him so much of the happiness and care that most street cats never get to experience.

He reminds me of an old cat I had, named Bob. Picked up Bob in the slums, bone-thin and just looking for a home. He was with us many, many years. Think he was in his teens before he passed.

Then this boy came as a feral from the shelter, they named him Czar but it got changed pretty quickly to - Bob . Actually, Black Bob per my granddaughter. Once he decided he was not feral, that got switched to Belly Rub Bob as he loves belly rubs.

Let me know if you need any help for transport!

tried to send you a message but no go.

I’m so upset to hear Nic passed. I just loved him and was glad you got to be his person and give him the loving attention he needed.

I think this new guy is a plaid guy, too and I know that you will give him the best home.

Thank you for your kind words. Let’s hope BatCoach can work her photosession magic and find him a home locally.

I’m good for the time and the money but after waiting since July finally have cataract surgery scheduled for mid-February, so no real driving until then. Kaiser P, but that 's a whole 'nuther thread.

BatCoach speak up if you need a dribble towards elf hat expenses.

@BrownDerby I know someone coming up to the NorCal area from Ventura in early January. I bet she’d be willing to escort Mr. Kitty if you can take him…

ETA: just spoke with her, and she’s game if it works for you and @BatCoach. No pressure, just let me know.

I’m so sorry- I didn’t know you lost Nic. He was a very lucky kitty.

I’m happy to help with travel funds to get this guy to you, though! I’m thinking of Scottish names now, because I do think a gorgeous plaid would look amazing on him!

That’s a really nice gesture. Let’s see how it goes; I’d love to see this kitty go to a quiet senior or other quiet sort of landing.

Edited for content. Ventura is very near BatCoach cat ranch.

Despite ransacking all the Christmas bins I could not find a single strip of plaid ribbon! Tragically, none of my Christmas cat hats or costumes fit him - he’s too wide! So our photo shoot today was without adornment.

The first photo is beautiful. What a dignified persona.
