Know there might not be any locals here, but I cannot find any information on horse boarding in the Baton Rouge area. Very few places have websites and my search isn’t turning up a lot.
Can ANYONE recommend horse boarding facilities in the general Baton Rouge area that has full board and grass turnout and responsible staff. Doesn’t have to be an english barn, but it would be nice, as that is what I ride.

I used to live in Baton Rouge and never found much. There’s the BREC facility on River Road, but I don’t know much about them besides they’re there. I used to ride with Michelle Bergeron at Right Lead Equestrian Center in St. Gabriel. She is fantastic! Not sure if she’s what you’re looking for because she’s an eventer and it’s pasture board only. There are run in sheds, the possibility of private turn out, and some of her run ins can be closed into “stalls” for horses that need stall rest. Horses still get grain/supplements, blanketing, etc and there’s a tack room and cross ties, just no barn. Everyone I met there was always very nice and the horses are fat, happy, and well cared for.

How close to Baton Rouge? The Dixon’s place is in Prairieville (about 20 min outside town). Bill Dixon does cutting horses, but they also have jumps. Plain wood ones for regular boarders; if you train with Richard Loustalot (resident h/j trainer – he’s fabulous, especially for greenies and OTTBs) you also have access to his colorful jumps/boxes/etc.
They have full board with GRASS turnout all year, 1-2 horses per paddock. I don’t know of any other facilities that offer this. All the facilities are kept in pristine condition – no white board fences, but it’s clean, NO MUD (ever!) and safe. It’s also literally next door to the Kleinpeter vet center. Some people bring their own farriers in, and others have Bill Dixon do their horses. He has always done a great job on the English boarders. Having competent on-site vet/farrier was very convenient when we had horses there.

If you are close to lsu, brec is probably best. Haven’t been there for years except for shows but they do have turnout and quite a few rings.
They are a bit of a pain to deal with as far as riding goes. I could be wrong, but I think a friend complained to me that if there is a lesson going on in one ring, none of the others can be used by boarders. That would knock me out of riding my horse most days 
As far as Baton Rouge traffic goes, there is nothing closer to lsu than brec :). Our roads are a mess!
Brec is probably your best bet. A friend of mine used to have a boarding stable in ST. Gabriel, but she has moved. Not sure if the new owners are taking boarders. There are a few outside of BR.
I probably should have prefaced the statement by saying not Brec. The lesson things is true and the turnout is only three days a week, every other day for two-three hours. I cannot remember exactly.
So frustrating, but if anyone knows of anything. I have a few calls out but waiting for calls back. I am just a little impatient
