Battery for solar charger

How long, in general, should a fence charger battery last? I bought one of these along with one of their solar chargers and it is about dead after less than two years:

I was looking around online to see if I could get the same type of battery from a different supplier, but I’m having a little trouble finding something with the same specifications (and don’t know enough to know if that’s important or not).

I kind of hate to buy an entirely new setup (charger + battery) since the charger I have was expensive.

Are my expectations too high for battery life? Should I just suck it up and plan on buying another Premier battery every 18 months?

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Batteries +. So far thee local store has managed to replace the batteries in our six year old wireless phone system, a Wahl equine trimmer, a “key fob” for the ADT security system for the house, a key fob for the truck, and batteries a number of other electronic devices. They haven’t said “no” yet. Don’t really have an opinion on how long they last. But, so far so good!

Give them a try.

I also like Batteries + but you may have to look for the store under a different name. Locally, every Batteries + store has been renamed something though I cannot remember what… same store, same font & color and name graphic, just a different name…

You could also try contacting Premier 1. They are an extremely reputable company with a stellar reputation, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they replaced your battery or sold you a new one at a discount. We buy TONS of goat equipment from Premier 1 each year and have always been pleased with how they resolved any issues we had.

Mine usually go about five years before needing replacement. My charger is a Parmak.

Also a Parmak - the smaller version. In the 13 years that we’ve had the charger, we’ve replaced the battery once. I can’t remember exactly how long we’ve had our 2nd charge (also the smaller Parmak) but is approx. 10 years old and we haven’t had to replace that one yet.
