I know there are quite a few fans of BLack Country saddles on this board. Does anyone have their saddles in Vintage Oxblood, Cocoa, or Dark Brown? The Cocoa seems a bit grey, but the Oxblood seems a bit too red…
My BC is dark brown and black. There is very little difference between the two. I do recommend the buffalo flaps - really nice. I had silver welting on mine but that has long faded to kind of cream colored. I love, love, love my Tex Eventer.
The brown is like coffee bean brown. The oxblood is very easy to match with most major suppliers of fittings and a common color, not as red as you think. My dressage saddle is black and my jump saddle oxblood. The brown is harder to match as most tack has a little bit of red to it but the brown is a beautiful rich brown.
I had the oxblood vintage leather–it was not too red.
I have the oxblood vintage leather for one of my saddles. It’s like a chestnut/medium brown with a slight reddish tint. I don’t think it’s too red.
Here is a pic of my horse with his oxblood wexford.

Mine is dark brown, which yes is “coffee bean” brown. It’s dark enough that I can use black fittings and most people would never notice the difference.
My saddle is oxblood and black. I adore the oxblood color, but it’s definitely a redder brown, though it has darkened a bit with use. . I trialed a saddle in dark brown and it is almost black.
My saddle is dark brown with black trim. The brown is almost like dark chocolate - a tad lighter maybe.
I also have the dark brown and agree it’s pretty dark, but I love both my BCs!
I just had one made in dark brown. It’s quite dark, but very pretty. Had piping done in a medium brown.
I trialed one in oxblood and found it to be too red, although I think it would darken with time and oiling.
Thanks for the info! So any photos of the Cocoa in use or aged? I have tack with very little red - I think the Cocoa is the best option but I can’t seem to find a photo of it nice and oiled.
