BEACH RIDING in FORT LAUDERDALE

I am vacationing in Fort Lauderdale (Leaving Sunday) and I was curious if anyone knew of any outfits that did some beach riding in the area.

Thanks for any input.

The simple answer is probably “no”. There are only a few locations in Florida that allow horses and in most cases you have to bring your own. Here’s a list I found, not sure even if its current.

Nobody does beach riding in Broward except occasionally the police horses. If you would like to trail ride I know of a place in West Broward that is decent. Their horses are well cared for and well behaved and you can go faster than a nose to tail walk. (It’s mighty hot and sweaty riding here now though and the mosquitoes are pretty bad…oh and there is the mud…but we are still riding whenever we can…it’s just typical weather for us.)

Seeing the bitless horses the police were riding on the beach made me think of it…however I did want to yell at one Officer who was on a lovely chestnut who was clearly lame, like three legged lame :frowning:

The weather isn’t bothering me much, I’m a fish who has been transplanted to the desert and finally get to use my gills after 20 years…I am enjoying the weather for the most part, I was just curious if anyone did any beach riding in the area.

As for the mosquitoes… I have 20+ bites on just my legs from the short hike to the Light house in Biscayne Bay after swimming with dolphins… man worst $8 ever, besides that… So far I am having a great time. Swam with dolphins, visited the Flamingo Gardens, chilled at the beach, went night time deep sea fishing… ADVENTURE!!!

Thanks for the feedback though, I really appreciate it.

Same here 2Jakes! Though when I go get Hoover and we are just staring/sweating at each other while standing still, I tend to say eh, maybe not this afternoon… I’ve been getting heat sick sitting in my office despite drinking two liters per day on top of meals!

Aanndd, the other thing to maybe watch for with beach 'skeeters these days. 2Jakes, any sign of Chikungunya transmission within Florida yet? I hope not. It’s getting hard to find people here who haven’t had it yet.

I jokingly said to my husband… “When we get home people are going to ask me what I brought home…and I am going to say Malaria…I brought home Malaria…”

Though let me tell you, being here for 2 weeks really gets one to appreciate the dry heat of the Southwest. I can hardly wait to get home and tell off everyone who complains about the heat! I don’t complain too much though, I knew what it was like before coming.

Night time deep sea fishing! Oh, bliss! Did you catch anything?

I did. I caught some good sized snapper and a couple small yellowtails. Had to toss back the Yellowtails, they were too small. But I had a fantastic time and want to go do it again. It was awesome and the company (Fishing Headquarters) was amazing. They already knew me by name before I got on the boat and had a great time with them.

Yup, it’s here. It’s been mentioned on the news but no one has been making a big deal about it. We also had a case of Dengue on the news yesterday.

K2d, if you were at Flamingo Gardens you were only about a block away from the trail riding place. Glad you’re having fun here, Ft. Lauderdale is a neat city.

Went riding and swimming at Wolf Lake (in Davie) yesterday and didn’t notice any mosquitoes at all. It was overcast, so not bad riding and swimming and sitting on Rico in the water was blissful. I’ll take lake swimming over beaches anyday. No waves, the horses can drink the water, and he loves lakes.
