Bellissimo/partners purchased Colorado Horse Park

Very interesting. I know the rumor was that HITS would be buying the horse park but seems like that was incorrect. Thoughts?

I too thought TS had a lock on it. Would love to know what transpired!

This is not a good or bad comment just an observation, It looks like our sport now has 2 monopolies in this sport both competeing for the Elite Dollars that cris cross the Country

Wonder what this means for Pat Boyle and Showplace Productions who have been running Summer in the Rockies at CHP for years…

I did post that thread a while ago! An account on twitter had posted that Hits and TS had purchased the park… either way, interested to see how this will work out.

That’s a nice facility and good location. Glad to see it bought by horse people and not turned over to some developer.

Honestly, I’m glad it wasn’t the HITS folks who bought it.

They tended to buy up anything seen as “competition” for their elite shows and squelch it into nothing. Not that we’ve experienced that here with our former elite winter circuit they smashed or anything…

From all I’ve read and heard, this is a fantastic facility with potential to be one of the elites, and it has a much greater chance to be used by a community and flourish with Bellisimo.

My understanding is that Mark came up with a better offer. HITS was planning on just having a H/J circuit. Where it sounds like Mark will keep dressage shows, and eventing HTs at the park. Along with the current boarders and trainers. That fit better with Helen’s vision and legacy. I am really excited about this transition and I think it will be a positive one for the Colorado horse community.

He has his 2015 completion calendar up on Showplace Productions website, and it does not show any dates for shows out in Colorado. I guess that was to be assumed since the new owner also has his own management company.

:frowning:

Colo Horse Park (and now the Bellissimo Partners) owns the summer show dates. LEG owns the former Colo Horse Park Spring and Fall show dates, which is why they moved to Colo Springs. This will be very interesting as the past two years have indicated that Colo cannot support an A Circuit show every single weekend during the doable (and Spring is always dicey) bumper season months. In summer, Colo is a nice refuge from southern heat and humidity (with the occasional 12" of hail :)) .
