Belmont Park seating chart

Is there someone who could help me interpret the seating charts?
I’m looking online for tickets for the Belmont Stakes and the least expensive reserved tickets I can find on the Belmont Park website itself are $350.

I’ve found some tickets on Stubhub that are not cheap but within what I am looking to spend. However, I have no idea where exact the seats are since I can’t find them on a chart. There are lot of seats listed as being in grandstand general admission in rows GAX where X=1 to 7.

I think this is the area out in the open just in front of the apron. But are they actually reserved seats? So if it only says GA row 1, am I guaranteed a seat? or you get a ticket for that area and have to fend for yourself in that row?

Last year I was on the apron but won’t do it again…

Grandstand General Admission = no seat. I bought GA tickets online last year through the track and the tix said the same thing with the number.

I had a surprisingly pleasant experience on GA last year. I stood on the third level behind the last row of seats and could see and hear perfectly. The only lines I waited in were for the train!

Thanks Tex. is there a difference between “general admission”
And “grandstand general admission”

The latter are selling for ~$100 on stubhub, but I thought one could still get those from the Belmont website for only a fraction of that.

Nope. GA is grandstand admission. They are like $15 tickets, so the stubhubbers are ripping you off.

That’s what I suspected. I’ll just get a ga ticket from Belmont Park for cheap then, and take a folding chair and some knitting.

You can definitely do GA - I’ve done it for the Belmont and the BC. Have fun! Get there early early if you want a spot at the rail! Take a buddy so you can save seats through bathroom and concession breaks.

Get a spot on the rail and by that I mean right on the rail leaning against the fence–chain yourself to it if you have to–the crush at Belmont time has to be experienced to be believed. I don’t think they let you in with folding chairs–bring a blanket and a buddy.

We thought we were smart last year getting there early and grabbing one of the front benches. Within an hour people had moved benches from inside the grandstand in front of us and by race time we were four deep not counting the people who crammed in front of us between the benches. Standing on my bench I caught a glimpse of the horses running past me, recognized California Chrome’s red coat and purple and green silks on the outside and not much else.

It was a great experience but I’ll watch this year’s Belmont at home with my lucky vodka and tonic in hand.

I did get a spot on the rail last year so I know what you mean about the crowds!! It was wild!! I was right by the finish line and could see everything. It was fun, but I don’t think I’d do it again because of how carefully I had to guard my seat, even with help. Lol

Still trying to find a way to get a reasonably priced reserved seat, but I think at this point there’s probably not much chance of that

Last year, my 62 year old mother came with me on general admission. We really did have a surprisingly pleasant experience. It was my first time at the Belmont Stakes on general admission and I was really worried about how it would be for my mom. But my worries were for nothing-- we had a wonderful time. I’ve now been to all three Triple Crown races on GA and enjoyed Belmont the best by far.

We didn’t even get to the track until just before noon, so I wasn’t expecting to be able to see anything. We wandered up to the 3rd level of the grandstand and it was not crowded at all. We stood along the rail behind the last row of seats and made fast friends with a group of 20-somethings from Alabama sitting in front of us, as well as another nice gentleman standing along the rail. There were benches right behind us, so we had somewhere to sit when we wanted a break. There were no appreciable lines at the betting windows upstairs. The lines for food/drink moved quickly. The restroom lines weren’t even too bad. Since it wasn’t super crowded up there, we didn’t have to guard our spots too carefully, but that was also because all the folks in the area were looking out for each other.

Right before the Belmont Stakes, the crowd did start to push in a bit. But we were prepared for that and already had all of our bets, food, drink, used the restroom, etc. The nice guys from Alabama offered to go out and get anything for us since they could easily get back in to their seats. Even with everyone standing up and going crazy for the Belmont Stakes, we could still see the track well (and I am short!).

At one point in the day, I wandered down to the paddock to check things out. It was a bit more of a mob scene and I was sure grateful for our vantage point upstairs!

The lines to leave on the trains after the race were crazy-- that was probably the only negative on the day. But I would do it all again!

Snick…
Beware of StubHub…will rip you off!
For years we’d stake out a spot by the paddock…great fun…had kids with us last year so we wanted seats…StubHub ripped us off…stood the whole day.
Purchased seats from NYRA thru TicketMaster when they first went on sale this year…think it was February…would be the only way I’d ever do it now, buying wise.
Plenty of places to stake out a spot…good suggestions here…blanket…extra person…check out list of allowed items, might even want to print the list and bring it with you.
King Umbertos…best place to eat after or night before!!

Did you go to TicketMaster?
I see tickets (under “full price”) under $300. Don’t know what you need.
