Looking for input on the Bemer blanket.
What have been your experiences been? Good and Bad.
I am a converted skeptic. My mare used to be veryyyyy suspicious of strangers touching her. We had a Bemer practioner out to treat a couple of our horses a couple years ago and putting the blanket on my mare was just chaos, however as soon as it was on and working she calmed right down… 10 mins later it auto shut-off and she exploded. We actually had to leave the blanket turned on to be able to remove it.
My barn manager then bought her own Bemer blanket and I try to use it on my mare daily. I can’t be sure it’s really doing much for her muscles/joints or deeper tissues but regardless, she loves it. She stands in the crossties and licks and chews and yawns like 10 times in a row while I am just around the barn doing other stuff. You can actually tell down to the SECOND when it auto shuts off because she all of a sudden raises her head and becomes more alert, so I think that’s pretty cool.

BEMER blankets are basically just PEMF therapy. PEMF has been demonstrated to have measurable effects on circulation (increased circulation), reduction in edema, reduction in post-operative and post-injury pain. Much of the hard science is over my head, but it’s summarized well throughout and it’s easy enough to grasp the concepts.
I know some very passionate BEMER advocates, but I haven’t been able to track down any independent studies that show why it is specifically better than any other PEMF therapy. Personally, I find the tone of the BEMER site a little off putting, and the MLM structure always makes me wary. That being said, PEMF is PEMF so likely BEMER does that as well as other PEMF products.

I worked for a GP rider/trainer who used all the Bemer products. She was really happy with them. However, whenever anything broke- the company was very hard to get ahold of.
I use PEMF. I asked the lady who owns the machine about Bemer. She said if you are willing to purchase a Bemer than look into another product that has a stronger output like a Centerion blanket, etc.
