Ben hardaway

Hello

So this is a bit of an uncomfortable question to ask, but I will just come right out and ask. Is Mr Ben Hardaway still alive? The reason I am asking, is that one of my bosses use to work for Mr Hardaway and often talks about how much he admires him. There has been talk about possibly wanting to see Mr Hardwaway, so I thought it would be nice to see if I could connect the two. I looked up Midland fox Hounds, but there wasn’t any contact information for Mr Hardaway, so i got concerned that he might have passed. The last thing I could find on him, was hear on COTH regarding his hip replacement he had in 2011.

Does Mr Hardaway still breed horses? Any help would be great appreciated.

Thanks!

Yes he is still alive, he posted a funny picture of himself in Duck Dynasty getup on Facebook last week. You might want to send an email to the address at the bottom of this page to get word to him:

Yes, he is a grand old man! Still loves the hunt parties and dressing up for Halloween. He still follows must hunts in his Jeep.

Probably the best person to put you in contact would be his son in law Mason Lampton, MFH at Midland. I believe he’s reachable through the link Beverley posted.

Also, his book Never Outfoxed is an amazing memoir and history of hunting, with gorgeous pictures. Maybe your boss is mentioned in it?

Actually his phone number is on the MFHA listing:

Click on Midland Fox Hounds and the info will pop up.

He’s been MFH since 1950, so, 64 years. I don’t know if that exceeds Mr. Hubbard’s tenure in Maryland or not, but offhand I would say Randy Rouse must be second, MFH at Fairfax (now Loudoun Fairfax) since 1961.

I know Mr. Hardaway. He is indeed alive. He’s a great southern gentleman with a long, interesting history, not only in foxhunting but in our area as a business man as well. If you get in touch with Mason you will enjoy talking with him- he’s very personable!

He is very much alive! I do not know about calling him out of the blue though. Better to contact Mason or Mary Lu.
