Bensmom saddle soap - the review thread (if that's okay with Bensmom)

I’d buy a logo shirt too! I need all the t-shirts I can get.

Just got my soap! I’m in love! You can read my review on my blog - http://throughthelevels.blogspot.com/
Thanks Libby! Excellent, excellent, excellent!

What a LOVELY review!! Thank you so much – I loved the photos and everything!!

I just ordered the soap and balm! Looking forward to cleaning my tack in style

Update after testing out the leather balm: it’s been nearly a week after I used the balm on my saddle and everyday bridle.

I noticed today that even after several rides, my saddle still feels nice and soft, and not thirsty. I didn’t think that previous leather conditioners I’ve used have left that feeling so long. My billets really did seem happy to have a nice deep conditioning.

Also - I cleaned my saddle today (with the Citrus Ginger soap) and I definitely noticed that it looked even better than it used to with just the soap! I still did not need to condition again.

Verdict: the combination of the soap and balm is the best route to great-looking and feeling tack.

How can one buy this without signing up on Etsy or Facebook? I don’t care to be published either place.

So… what type of shirt would you buy/prefer? Polo Shirt-type, that has wicking properties so you could wear it while you ride? Just a t-shirt?

What about a bumper sticker??

Just some marketing research, from your friendly HSLC marketing lady (not that Libby needs me with all of you singing her praises!!)[/QUOTE]

I’d prefer a polo. If you happened to make it a royal blue or hot pink, I would have the perfect polo for stadium and XC… Yes, probably asking too much. But something “nice” to wear at a show seems like the best idea. It would be super cute on a polo to put the logo where a breast pocket would be and then on the back have the slogan: I have Higher Standards. Do you?

I like the bumper sticker idea too. I think all kinds of “swag” would be a great idea! What if you had a Higher Standards bag to hold all of your products too?

You know, I was thinking of pink. Both because I need to embrace more color, and that is also the accent color that we used on the leather balm label

I’ve had the logo done in a stitch out already but haven’t ordered any shirts yet.

Libby

I would love a polo! I need more polos in my life haha

You know, if it happens to be the hot pink/magenta that matches my gloves and saddle pad, I would probably just flip and buy several… I am looking for the perfect pink polo for my getup. You know these things are important.

Finally used the saddle soap after receiving my order ages ago. I think I was one of the first etsy orderers!

It poured, and I mean poured, rain during my lesson today. When I was done, everything was soaked. So that saddle soap really got a work out cleaning my dressage saddle, two bridles, half chaps and my boots. All I can say is wow, my tack looks amazing (and I always keep it clean and wiped down). Great product, I was very happy.

I would be interested in a blue polo, particularly if it were one of the nice meshy ones. Pink clashes with my horse.

Has anyone noticed the Taking Care of Your Tack Doesn’t Have to Be Tough article link over there? -------->

No mention of HSCLC! Geez, COTH.

That article as well as the one on Richard Castelow saddles is from several years ago, long before Libby developed her product.

My bad! I just assumed it was recent.

Although Libby just started selling it, I believe she actually developed the soap something like 9 years ago, yes? Not saying COTH would have known about it, though.

I almost squealed when I opened up my package with leather balm in it… The pink on your label is the PERFECT shade to match my colors… So if you happened to sell polos of that color… Well I’d buy several. I got the package on my way to work. But I have an unusual amount of free time these next two days especially due to the blazing heat to try out the balm on everything. I am super excited and can’t wait!

As a side note, I really love the progression of your packaging. I have a sample container, an original label from when you first launched, a recent label when I purchased ANOTHER jar of Confidence and now the balm. It’s really neat to feel apart of this amazing project.

I’m so glad everyone has been along for the ride! It is much better to look at it as a progression, than to see it as “gee, that chick launched her product without all her ducks in a row.”

I hope you are pleased with the balm. I used mine yesterday on my bridle and really liked it

I just used the balm on my saddle that got SOAKED with rain yesterday AND then AGAIN today!!! Love this stuff (and love my grass, but c’mon Mama Nature - hormones may be in order!!!)

For a ~SMALL~ fee you can even have Libby come demonstrate…

… the proper way to clean tack! No kidding! Of course, you must have an entire basket of green, slimy, but very nice leather goods languishing in the horror of living with someone like me who HATES cleaning tack…think about it.

Ok, I’ve placed my first order! Can’t wait to get it!

Libby, a very good friend has her own embroidery/printing company. She can do small (or even individual) runs, and has been in business for 24 years. She does all the embroidery and screenprinting for my barn and the drill team, and also is the preferred vendor for my full-time employer as well.

And she’s a reiner  so you’re supporting another horsewoman!

I can PM you her info.
