Bensmom saddle soap - the review thread (if that's okay with Bensmom)

Ok, y’all convinced me!

Flavor of the month special edition for August, Vanilla Mint?

Yeah, I’m easy!
Will you post on FB or here to let us know when to order?

Used the soap and balm tonight. Very happy with both and I love the fact that I know the person who created it. I especially like the texture of the balm-- a little harder than lederbalsam which is what I traditionally use. I’ll be a repeat customer

Hooray!!

Maybe August needs to be Vanilla month?!

Or, perhaps I should make you guys wait for Vanilla/Citrus month … Hmmmmmmmm.

Veronica – so glad you like it!!!

Libby

BTW I like the packaging and that makes a BIG DIFFERENCE to me. These jars are easy to open/close and seal tightly. And they look store bought. Maybe it’s petty but it does matter to me and I was pleased when I got the products.

What, no votes for COCONUT?? OMG, I would clean my tack EVERY RIDE.

The vanilla rosemary is heavenly. I’m ordering some for my friends as gifts.

Libby, you’re not supposed to be having this much fun! Congratulations–sounds like your business is off and running! I love my products but am virtually horse-less this summer so haven’t used them up yet!

I’m sorry… whose vanilla-mint, exactly?? Hmmm???

Citrus is summer, mint is winter. Vanilla citrus first!

I would be totally in for coconut!!! Or chocolate:yes:

I would be down for coconut, for sure! Or buttercream frosting. Pretty much anything sweet.

Libby, I sent you a message on your fb. Wasn’t sure which location would be more convenient to contact you.

I’d like to put in a vote for scents to be stronger. Lately, as the heat index has been upwards of 110, I’m having this problem wherein I’m cleaning my tack and can’t smell the soap over the delightful aroma of sweaty human who stepped in manure.

All you have to do is rub a towel over the reins after soaping up!
I don’t find that sufficient, I dig out every little crevice with a knife or Q-tip. Maybe Libby will consider a liquid cleanser at some point? Bit of Britain has free shipping this week so I ordered the Moss saddle soap and liquid grunge remover, or whatever its called, that I have been wanting to try. Moss soaps (made with goats milk) are scented as well, with very similar scents as Libby’s, so I am interested in a comparison. When I first saw this thread I thought it was about the Moss product because of the similar scents.

Yes, Vanilla Mint sounds wonderful. Is it available yet or must we wait until August?

Moss soaps are nice…but I like Libby’s better. Seems to be the consensus at my barn as we have used up the Higher Standard’s soap…and the moss soap is just sitting.

I prefer Libby’s to the MOSS soap, which was my previous favorite… though I’ve not tried any liquid versions of the MOSS.

And yes, frightfully, Akene conditioner is now $35 (okay, well $34.90). Thankfully, I got to use a 20% offer!

Picturing BAC at the barn, knife in hand. Peeps better watch out!

Its a small knife.

Pattnic I don’t know if I can bring myself to spend $35 on Akene, especially as I am really liking the Higher Standards balm so much.

Part of the problem was that I didn’t see a price tag anywhere and remembered the old price from the last time I bought it, so I let it get rung up without knowing the price! My bad. I consoled myself by considering this my last big hurrah for Akene, as I also like the Higher Standards balm well enough that I will not be buying Akene again.

Bensmom - will you be doing a discount again any time soon? Pretty please? I missed out on the last two!

I just called my local shop to see if they had any more of our favorite Walsh/Blue Ribbon oil and asked about Akene as well. I was hoping they still had some left at the old price but nope, its $34.50 now. Maybe I will splurge just this one last time, like you, and treat myself.
