OH! Also, I have a clove and peppermint people soap that smells awesome! Husband is also a fan of it (in fact, he was the one who wanted to buy it).
Husband and I are both totally on board for people soap! (He specifically asked if people soap was available).
ok so I got my first order last night, the sugar and spice and citrus ginger. I ran upstairs to smell and show my boyfriend. We both loved them, I liked the spice one more and he liked the citrus ginger more. Well the dog and cats were gathering around curiously so they all got a sniff. The cats inspected quite closely and wandered off. The dog took a big lick of the sugar and spice and then made a funny face and tried pawing the container lol. She did not taste test the citrus ginger. So stupid me dropped them on my bed before taking a shower. Our dog has NEVER destroyed or chewed on anything even if food is within her reach, sheās trained very well. Got out of my shower and she had chewed on the citrus ginger container. I was super mad :(. Didnāt chew through it, it just doesnāt look nearly as nice as it used too. Oh well lesson learned and your containers can hold up to a 20lb mini goldendoodle trying to get inside. I am going to start trying to clean my tack after each ride and will let you know how it works!
While weāre talking about add-on products weād buyā¦I want more of those little sponges that come with Higher Standards soap. Theyāre much better than the small tack sponges sold in my local tack stores; I like how theyāre not just small, but narrow, so you can really get into the nooks and crannies. Mark those suckers up 100% and sell them to me, Bensmom. 
Eagerly waiting for the holiday specials, although Iām sure Bensmom has a million other things to do (like ride horses!)ā¦I have 3 barnmates who want Starlaās Sugar and Spice, and weāre hoping to combine shipping by waiting for the holiday specials to come outā¦
Jen ā Iām heartbroken about my sponges! The place where I get them has changed them to the less tightly woven ones. There was no notice and the stock number is the same. When my order came in and it was different I was NOT happy.
We are working on another source for the better ones, though I am shipping the not-as-good ones for now, as thatās all Iāve got!
Stargaznā ā I will trade you a new jar for some pics of the goldendoodle chewed one! I would love to be able to show that the soap is so wonderful that dogs canāt resist it, but our jars are tough enough to survive!! :lol:
Holiday specials could go up today, but it feels so weird to put up Christmas shopping specials before Halloween . . . .

My dog Penny is very lucky that she has a super cute guilty look I can never stay mad at her. Here are some pics of herā¦ There are definitely chew marks but no real damage! I am sure she would have been able to crack into a less quality container. Bensmom I can email them directly to you if you want copies for your website etc.

I also think that even though itās early it canāt hurt to put up holiday specials. I always like to try and get my shopping out of the way as early as possible so Iām not completely broke right around Christmas.
Just ordered my first tub of Bensmomās soap! Iām so excited! Iām prepping for the Christmas season, and I thought Iād take it to the barn and see how all my riding buddies respond to it. Iām sure theyāre going to love itā¦so Iāll be back to buy one for each of them!

Also, Iāll throw in another vote for people soap. I donāt use schmancy soaps on myself, but they would make a marvelous gift/swag for the guest bathroom/soap for the barn bathroom/etc.
Please put the holiday special stuff up on Etsy now! I want a Sugar and Spice but itās hard to justify the shipping to Canada just for one jar of soap, especially when Iām still working on my first jar and have two more waiting!

This may sound stupid butā¦for those of you who have used the peppermint soap - have you had trouble with your horse chewing your tack? My guy loves peppermints and will sometimes grab his reins in his mouth when Iām leading him. I donāt want yummy smelling reins to encourage this bad habit!

Canāt speak to the CinnaMint since itās the new one, but I have the Rosemary Mint. Itās LOVELY to sniff while youāre cleaning tack, but it doesnāt leave a lingering peppermint aftersmell. I doubt, very seriously, that a peppermint-obsessed horse would even notice.
Also, thanks to Bensmom for posting the holiday specials! My barnmates weighed in on their orders via email within MINUTES. Folks, this is what happens when you sit at the front of your barn cleaning your tack with Higher Standards Leather Care and everybody smells it as they pass by. #freeadvertising
There were actually a few people worried that their horses would want to eat tack with the vanilla mint scent too, and I have had no reports of that being a problem!
Thanks for the replies about the āmintinessā. I have the Citrus Ginger but I want to get the Holiday packs for gifts for some barn friends. However, if their horses chew their tack because it smells so good, Iām not sure how long they would remain friends :)!

Also, the ālemon stickā scent that Veronica suggested for Devon would be extremely cool! I love lemon and I think it would be a nice light scent for summer and a Devon launch would be perfect.

Hereās a funny for you, Libby. A couple of weeks ago, some of the barn girls walked into the tack room to find me cleaning my tack. They sniffed the air and said āWho brought cookies?ā I explained that it was my leather balm and let them sniff it. They went wild and carried it to every other student in the barn, exclaiming, āLook! Rennās leather stuff smells like cookies!ā I finally got it back and thought that was the end of it until one of them introduced me to her father yesterday. āThis is Renn! She has the cookie stuff!ā :lol: Do you have business cards? If so, can I get a couple in the box with my next order? Iāll write āthe cookie stuffā on the back of it and pass them out to the parents.
Hereās a problem. Iām so hooked on all of the Higher Standards products that I have more product than I have tack to clean (and I have a lot of tack). If I end up with another horse just to have more tack . . .
